21\5\2004 is a night we have been impatiently awaiting for quite some time. Because that night was not only about a Trance event in Lebanon - something which is in itself very rare - but also about a Trance event spawned by a co-organization between LTFC (Lebanon Tiesto Fan Club) and TranceHits.com
I got there a bit late due to car-failure issues, but luckily my arrival was coupled with the main DJ taking over the decks. As soon as I entered, Bilal had just started playing Love Comes Again - what a way to start a night eh?
From just walking in that club (Y68) I could smell Trance among people; though everyone wasn't yet at his peak, but my guts told me that there truly was an educated crowd over there; later on this turned out to be correct.
Heading straight to the TranceHits.com crew table, present members were TRANCExual, SamEr, electro-sam, MalcomX, commando, DJ FADE, timberlinx, and myself. The first natural thing to do was a toast: so we drank a toast to Trance, to TranceHits.com, and to AMADEUS who couldn't be among us last night because he was rocking the crowd in Cyprus. This is how it all began.
I will not go through the different steps of the night as the little stories I could tell could go on forever, so I'll give a global description of the night as a whole. The club is spacious, could easily fit 500 people. The sound quality was up to the level, both in quality and power. As for the crowd, that is a whole different story!
Bilal was spinning mostly Tiesto stuff, as the theme of the night was a tribute to Tiesto. Tracks I still remember being played were Suburban Train, Lethal Industry, Traffic, Beautiful Things, Adagio For Strings, and Magik Journey, Force Of Gravity, Faithfulness, Flight 643, the all-time favorite of many Solar Coaster, and Requiem For A Dream to name a few. His co-DJ occasionally took on the decks to deliver quality non-Tiesto-esque Trance such as AvB's take on As The Rush Comes, the Rising Star remix of Burned With Desire (AvB again!), Phynn's Escape, the oh-so-sweet Naked Angel, and the powerful Sinead O'Connor trancer Troy (Push Remix!) among many others.
The ambiance was sizzling! The crowd was loving every bit of music played and were more responsive that I expected. Bilal's mixing techniques could use some training, but this guy sure knows how to pump up a crowd! The track selection was sublime - what else could it be since it's all Tiesto-approved stuff? He was also playing footage from TiC (Tiesto in Concert) on a giant screen situated right under a huge Tiesto poster that he hung up really high - high enough for Tiesto!
The crowd... what can I say about the crowd? We at TranceHits.com always believed that the Lebanese scene does have a Trance potential, and we set our aim to nurture that potential and spread Trance more and more in the region. And last night was a big motivation for our side as we saw that there really is a Trance-loving crowd out there; they might not all be updated with releases and all that, but at least they love it, and we could see that on their faces. During the vocal tracks, I could spot many lips singing along the lyrics, even those of the not-so-commercial tracks! That really made my night, and pushed us further to distribute our beloved website's business cards! I will as e-sam to scan our new promo card soon and upload it onto the site.
Anyone who was there and who is into Trance surely had a good time - you should've seen me shake that ass! If anyone on this site still doesn't know who DIONYSOS is and was there yesterday, I am the guy who was:
1) dancing from start to finish
2) going around from table to table distributing TranceHits.com cards
3) smiling all the time, even laughing of joy at other times
4) completely surrendering to the music and not listening to anyone talking to me - that includes kneeling to the crowd, constant hands-in-the-air, practicing yoga on a subwoofer, dancing like a madman on the 'elevator'... the list just goes on!
All in all, this was truly a night to remember. LTFC did a great job organizing the event: the music was pure Trance, the sound was pumping, the visuals were captivating, and the crowd was simply fascinating! On this occasion, the TranceHits.com crew would like to thank Bilal & LTFC for making this happen; it is a genuine relief for us to see someone else working as hard as we are for promoting Trance music in Lebanon. This was indeed one event we will never forget, and surely not the last event we shall join efforts in!
Keep your eyes on this thread as we will soon upload photos of the night!
edited: I was just cruising in my car and on my playlist came along that classic Lost Witness track called Happiness Happening, which is one of my all-time favorite vocal trancers, and it came to my attention how much the lyrics are descriptive of a quality Trance event like the one we experienced last night, so I will share the lyrics with you hoping there were other faces in the crowd who felt the same euphoria that I did
