Cosmic Gate are back with their third artist album Earth Mover.
Last year Claus Terhoeven (Nic Chagall) and Stefan Bossems (DJ Bossi) announced that they would quit the hardtrance sound and this album shows this fact clearly with a blend of several styles of trance distributed over 13 tracks.
A Mile In My Shoes
1st track is a progressive dark start off this album with the male vocals by Sir Adrean and a hard kick that sets the mood straight for what comes ahead, the perfect start for a very interesting journey..
I Feel Wonderful
track 2 is nothing but the trance classic Freefal - Skydive with the amazing vocals of the trance diva Jan Johnston with last year's rework by the boys from CG who gave the track a more deep, groovy drive.. a track that will never sound old, never sound boring with Jan's magical voice..
Element Of Life
for what sound a smooth coninuation, a sweet melody takes control slowly building up reaching a crazy climaz before the beat kicks back in for some tough techy sound going althrough till the end
Should Have Known
the next track is another vocal one, this time it's the voice of one of the best female vocalist and most in demande trance voices Tiff Lacey who manages to deliver one of her best and most enchanting vocals till now. Her voice is just magical and captivating!! few are the vocals that manage to attract the ears this way, her sweet voice with her ease of performance along the sad lyrics and low tempo feeling of this track gives a really amazing blue feeling before the wicked bassline kicks in and the track goes on a high trancy level for one of the best vocal tracks to be produced this year..
Analog Feel
after the angelic sweet voice comes the dark hard sound of this amazing a la Marco V style of tracks. A dancefloor bomb by all means, the synths, the bassline, the percussions.. all just blend together creating one hell of a raw dirty track with a techy feeling that screams PUMP YOUR FISTS!!
A Day That Fades
with a trippy acid sound this track starts off for another vocal melodical trancer while still pertaining the dark feeling and groovy bassline. Amazingly this track got a similar feeling to Ferry Corsten's - 'Hearts Connected' at some points.. a beautiful track in summary!
Bilingual
this isnt any new for many clubbers as this tracks is already well known for its breakbeats, groovy bassline, and amazing piano sound at the break.. a great clubbing track that had been doing its magic on the dancefloors for a long time.
Guess Who?
just knowing that this track was produced with the help of Wippenburg one wouldnt get surprised for what to hear next and would more easily explain the greatness of this track. An amazing progressive trancer with some wicked short female vocals and a heavy bassline along with some magical synths playing a hook up melody for an outstanding track and a great progressive piece of music that i've personally havenet been listening to for a long time.. a track that screams Wippenburg all over, a producer whom i value so much and who once again managed to help in delivering one of the best tracks of this album and for this year.. THIS IS HUGE PPL!!
Consciousness
when you think that things couldnt get any better, Cosmig Gate manage to surprise us once more.. Tech rough dirty sound is what this track is all about, the hard hypnotic synth and pounding bassline turns this track into an earthquake!! a truly track that could destroy any dancefloor like no other!! forget what you know about tech sound, THIS IS PURE MADNESS!! and when you think this is it, you get hit by a soft melodic breakdown with cool female vocal samples that doesnt give you much room to get lost as things turn back hard and dirty and soon you'll be jumping off your feet once again!! BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!! this is the best track off this album and a dangerous single to be watched out for!!
Race Car Driver
Once again Sir Adrian goes back on the vocals singing about car racing for what could be a reflection of life.. for what could sound a cheesy track, this production is in fact far from being anything like this with its hard banging high quality production and dirty synths that takes this baby down into the dark for yet another hard pounding dirty techy trancer.
Earth Mover
this is the title track of the album, a whooping synth sound takes control of this track for a production that reminds me of the old hard sound of Tiesto but to a much harder sound with some feel good feeling showing a bright side for a change.
This Is The Party
brightness continue as we reach the second track that features the divine vocals of Jan Johnston. For what could be a normal vocal trancer one can never doubt the ability of Jan's voice to turn any track into sheer quality, not to mention to amazing twist this track witness a little before minute 3 when everything gets harder and groovier and things go crazy for another whooping vocal track that set the standard high for vocal tracks..
Ultracurve
Finally we get to end this amazing journey with a re-edit of their old production Ultrcurve giving it a more uptodate harder sound and techy dirty rework while surprisingly being able to maintain its euphoric essence.. just a perfect way to end this perfect album!
Definitely one of the highlights of 2006 this album is going to be, marking the return of one of the projects that contributed in Trance history.. Cosmic Gate are back in full force.. you've all been warned!!
