Okay.. hmmm.. where to start:
First of all my full name is a few letters added to my nickname. (The name Mad-Jam would be cheesy otherwise). so add a AH to MAD and an A to JAM.... that's my full name...
American Community School (ACS) Graduate Class of 2000
LAU (Beirut) BA Communication Arts Class of 2004
I've been DJing since '92, mainly with house parties and one-off events at places such as schools, summerland and faqra club. Double cassette machines & CD players/ discmans with no pitch control or cueing (it was all about the music more than the mix).
Music was pretty much everything "non-arabic" from the start, but at the time (mid 90's) it was all about urban sounds (hip-hop, RnB, Gangsta Rap).
In 1997, Lawrence Farel organized an event at Beirut Hall entitled "Soriee Queen" from the Champs Elysses club in Paris. From that night onwards, House music changed the music perception in my head PERMANENTLY.
Continueing to do events at Janna, Acid, St. Georges and Downtown Beirut with various organizers including Positive Vibration, got my first chance to play to bigger crowds.
By 2000, I got my first 3 residencies at Blues Alley, Club 70, Le Sas, and Cream- Kaslik. Also the year that Club Frequency was started on Mix FM with the assistance of Roger Saad & production guidance of Dan Harper.
In the last 4 years of collecting & playing House music, I held residencies at come-and-go clubs such as Loft & Strange Fruit.
Since 2002, I've warmed-up for a number of A-List DJs that have arrived to play to the Lebanese crowd. I've also done a number of gigs in Kuwait, Amman, Dubai and Nicosia (with Amadeus).
Music in the last 4 years has gone through Garage, Disco-House, Drum & Bass and more recently progressive house & breakbeat.
It doesn't really matter what style the track is, as long as it sounds good, I'd play it. Electro has it's trend in '04, but lets see if it lasts long.
Now I got my BA in Communication Arts, it's time to find a day-time job. E-mail me, I'll send u my CV... hahaha!
I hope that summarizes it.... sorry to bore you, but it's a slow day...
