So if I understand this well, the concept of Planet Tiësto is just to base your playlist on Tiësto sets. Sounds partially good. It's just that you shouldn't be ashamed to mention names like trance or techno or whatever. It shouldn't scare people away. And if club owners see that these genres attract people and they see $$$ flowing, they' won't care about what kind of music that's being played...

oh.... so that includes music he plays on sets? thought it was just music off his compilations + remixes + his own productions...

if thats the case then i think the choice of music u can play is really limited.

PLANET tiësto : Session 5

Postby Guest » Thu May 06, 2004 10:06 am

Guys,

I don't understand why this is so difficult to grasp. The tiësto series play the music of tiësto (artist albums), his mixed albums (Nyana, Summerbreeze, Revolution...) the Magik series, the ISOS series, his remixes (which are plenty), tracks tiësto played in live sets. So that is a very very big range, nothing is limited. Bottom line, during the gig, the only time when you will feel this is a tiësto event, is when you hear either a Flight 643 or a Suburban Train (and the others).

For the last time, I am a big fan of his, and I wanted to name those events by his name in order to make a tribute to him. He taught me a lot and he is a remarkable, down to earth talent, he deserves it.

Phoenician, with all due respect, seriously, try being less critical and more open minded. In the end, nobody is forcing you to come. Why come all of a sudden I now represent the Trance community in Lebanon? You find problems with my tiësto series, that's fine, maybe one day I can go to yours...or wait, you didn't make any event, that's right (unless you did).

I am sick and tired of people being over their heads and being extra critical, can't you be like the Trancehits.com crew, they have their reservations of course, but at least they are supportive.

Thanks anyway for sharing your thoughts Phoenician.
Sorry for losing my temper, I am sure you are a nice guy, an idealist who likes perfect things maybe, but a nice guy...

Bilal my friend you dont have to lose your temper. I hear a lot of destructive criticism and I simply say I respect your opinion and turn my back and leave. The important thing is you believe in what you are doing. We believe in you and LTFC events. I also believe at least 80% of trancehits.com users will believe in your events once they attend and witness the difference between true trance events and other events. Keep up the good work we are with you all the way. -trancehits.com crew

Wise thoughts.

I rarely lose it, but this time I did, I apologize.

Thanks for the Trancehits crew.

i respect bilals opinion.no comment on that.if we dont try hard enuff to spread trance, then why make events.we r doing these events more and more year after year to spread it.lets just do this.the best start is the trancehits crew and the tiesto series.event after event, trance population becomes 70%.and on and on it goes.

70%? hehe that's a long shot my friend :P let's at least start by EDUCATING people of wat Trance is, instead of havin every1 mix up Trance with House and Techno and everything that has a 4/4 beat... i don't think Trance can ever be the main music genre in Lebanon as we have our own music in arabic language, and that will always be the favorite, but wat we can aim 4 is 2 establish Trance as 1 of the independently recognized genres in Lebanon alongside RnB, Pop, Rock, Arabic, and all the rest, and push to enlarge the local Trance scene as to attract more big DJ's here... I got a hunch this summer is gonna b a turning point 4 that ;)

To Bilal:
You always get me wrong when I say something. I just think it's bad to associate trance with Tiësto only. You act as if he's a god or something. And for your info if I'd be living in Lebanon I would help organize parties and everybody would be invited to come. Plus it's perfectly possible to make a playlist based on Tiësto sets from over the years without having a Tiësto-esque evening!
And last but not least I am supportive, I'm just warning you guys 'cause when you want to expose people to trance and you already start over-Tiësto-ing it can only get worse. Here in Europe he's way overhyped already and there's no need to spread that over the world in my opinion. There are thousands of DJ's that have better taste and hundreds of DJ's with better technique. And to be honest I'd come to see you spin and not 'cause it's a Tiësto evening but because DJ Bilal sounds much more appealing to me than DJ Tiësto... And I'm not being sarcastic here. It's always nice to hear something underground by some unknown talent than to go with the mainstream. Believe me...

ok ok.. too much talk that i need to say something here...
1- The tiesto event is just another TRANCE event.. after all tiesto isn't a top model.. isnt an actor.. he's a TRANCE DJ and Producer, so whoever comes to the tribute will get a little sample of what trance really is.. it's like someone who's not familiar with rock going to a concert for a rock band.. he likes the songs, he's not only gonna stick to that band.. surely he'll go enquire about the style as a whole, about this new style of music that he's hearing for the first time.. my point is.. it'll help spreading the style.. and that's what we're trying to do in here... oh well.. if he thinks otherwise, then he must be mentally retarded or something.. so he better stay at what he's listening to..
2- I'm sure Bilal sooner or later, if he chooses to keep on doing gigs he'll have to get out of the TIESTO cliche.. or else it'll get too used and backfire at him and us.. i guess we know that, he knows that.. and everybody agrees on that...
3- To Phoenician, I understand your location in Blegium - one of the major countries for trance music really gets you really close to trance music and events.. much more than we the others do.. but never forget 1 major thing man.. we're trying so hard to do something so difficult here.. so constructive criticism and words of support are much appreciated.. other than that.. it wont help anyone.. we're all here after 1 purpose and we all share the same passion.. we shouldnt be focusing on small ridiculous details.. and 1 more thing my friend.. we might be living on a fresh ground regarding TRANCE music.. but that doesnt mean we're still amateurs.. some of the people in here have been into TRANCE music for a long time now.. and are really expert in what they're talking about.. ;)

well last but not least.. this unconstructive debate must be put to an end.. we're all for 1 purpose.. spreading TRANCE.. so let's get to it with all available means..

Cheerz,
Never argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience
