I'm not sure if you can define any of those tracks as pure "house" since progressive house and trance easily cross over in sets. I did buy all of these tracks in the trance section where I shop, but could definitely see some of them in a progressive house set as well:)
I like so many styles and like to play so many styles, I tend to create personas for each one. I have two other names I use, one for vocal diva disco house, and under my main persona I play tech house/minimal/electro with a hint of progressive occasionally. I want people to know what to expect when I play shows, and using different names for each genre lets them know what to expect when they come out to see me. In the past 13 years I have had 2-3 year stints of playing Chicago House, Tribal/Progressive House, Breaks, Hard Techno, and even played Drum and Bass for 3 years in the late 90's. I still love it all, but the different names keeps the confusion to a minimum.
I currently own a record label, have had 10 tracks released, and hold residencies at 3 different clubs. Since January 1st, 2007 I have played 36 shows, with 95% of them being headlined by myself, in 8 different major cities in the United States. I am also a resident DJ and Entertainment Director for a club in my hometown, am a resident DJ for a very prominent liveset website, and have a radio show on sensegenerate.fm.
I don't know why I never got into trance until now, but I have hears some phenomenal tracks recently that have ended up in my minimal/tech house sets (Air Conditionne by Julian Jewell and Mexico can Wait by Roland Klinkenburg are my top two!!) and once I bought tracks, made a mix, and played my first gig with all trance this past Saturday, I am really enjoying it and want to share my love for the music and learn more about it from like minded individuals.
I know too many people that will only play/listen to one specific genre, and that approach is just too boring for me. I love variety, and trance is slowly becoming my next venture in my long life of love for electronic music. I look forward to hearing everyone else on here who DJs and produces trance, and hope to get better at my craft through discussion and critique of mine and everyone else's music that frequents this site.
