SYNOPSIS: In 1607, three English ships financed by the London Virginia Company sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in search of the legendary treasures and gold they believed would be found in these new territories. They reached land off the James River in Virginia and established the settlement of Jamestown. As most of the 103 in the original group were aristocrats ill prepared for life in this New World, the settlement struggled to survive as their dream of finding gold was quickly extinguished.
