Minimum recommended specs call for:

1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor

1 GB of system memory

16 GB of available disk space

Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable the Aero theme)


The Touch feature requires a touch compatible monitor.

Windows 7 is intended to be an incremental upgrade with the goal of being fully compatible with existing device drivers, applications, and hardware. (This is very good news for those who use laptops with "S" buttons) or who use Sony Vaio Laptops.


Bad news for those who thought they could rely on Vista for few years, looks like even MS is ashamed of Vista.

So far MS only flopped with the horrible Windows ME and slightly with Windows Vista despite the million dollars campaigns they couldn't get Vista on the right marketing track that even during it's peak release dates they were shipping more XP versions than Vista, not just because Vista is that bad, XP is still considered the best OS made by Microsoft so far, and they aren't forcing people to upgrade, Vista is just more eye candy and efficient in some cases more than XP, but not the perfect replacement for XP.
The question is, did Microsoft mislead people with Windows Vista?
There will be more angry than happy people when Windows 7 is out, specially business firms that upgraded their hardware just to keep up with Vista's sys requirements.

As Dr. Kelso once said, it's a hip-hop world, keep up or get out of the way.
