Oy!

Right, so I got a desktop PC off a mate of mine and it's all grand.
Little problem though:





Reason? The Ethernet Adaptor icon in the device manager page is having that
gipsy question mark over it. A question mark is something that looks like this
(?)... (just making sure... )

Anyhow, I tried to find the driver for it over the web, but i walked away empty
handed (and pissed off). It's one of them ''1394 Ethernet Adaptor'' as it's
called on the system information list.

So i need a driver or whatever it is that makes this fucking thing work.
Ideas? Help? Isam?

Alright.

Under 'LAN or High-Speed Internet' I got one connection. That one is
called '1394 Connection'. I have no other connections listed but this one.

Under Network Adaptors I've got: 1394 Net Adaptor.
Under Other Devices I've got: Ethernet Controller (that one is marked with
a question mark)

I get broadband from an external modem supplied by the ISP and a cable
normally goes into the Network socket on my laptop and the connection
streams in. Thing is that I can't perform the same set up for the PC here
because I don't seem to get the lingo of the networks. My laptop has the
1394 Connection in the LAN or High-Speed Connection bit and another
connection type called the Local Area Connection.

Evidently, the problem is the unavailability of the Local Area Connection
on the PC. Why? I don't really know. As far as I know, that one should be
in the Network Connections by default (I could be wrong).

Where do we got to from here, O' Master?

Ah no... I contacted the previous owner of the PC. He has the disk with the
PCs' driver on it. So I'll get it off him and get it installed. Am just waiting till
we're both off work so I'd pop down and take it off him.

Fine, I'll open it tomorrow, but am a bit scared:
You see there's something you lads don't know about me yet: I'm allergic to
dust.... and I'm a foofoo.

But I'll over come my fears, get a dust pan and kick the crap out of the dust!
I might be dustophobic, but I have great skill swinging things such as dust
pans, plastic knives, and argile hose when debates heaten up.
