I would recommend an Acer. It is dominating the lebanese market with unbeatable prices.

rob i have really bad experiences with acers :S
and i think a vaio with these specifications is expensive.
what i recommand and wat i am getting is a MacBook. dont get scared of the idea coz they have regular windows on them. last time i checked in dubai it was for 1300.

Dude, set a higher budget and go for the High End Laptops: PowerBooks from Mac!
Seriously, you cnt touch a PC laptop anymore once u use a Mac.
Incredible OS and High Performance + uncomparable Batterie Life + Silky Design. (the new ones come with Intel processors and windows XP + Mac OSx together)
Price is much higher then other PC's but, so much worthe the money.

I bought an ACER (Travelmate) 2 years ago, it still working very good with its 1.4 Centrino, 512 RAM , 40 GB Hdisk, DVD-RW, WiFi.
I used the new ACER (Aspire) for a month, I wasnt very satisfied honestly, the interface was not very comfortable to use. as performance, it was fine.
rob, Multimedia store doesnt sell Acers? I was at their showroom yesterday, they have many Acer products. Aces was the highest notebooks seller in the recent years. I guess now Toshiba took over its place, & HP follows the 2nd place.
Sony Vaio I guess It doesnt really worth to pay 2,000 USD when u can buy better specs for 1400 when u go for any other brands.
System.S Im seriously thinking about MAC.... I will be using the notebook for 2 purposes. Producing music which needs very powerful CPU & Graphic/Webdesign which needs at least 1 GB memory or more.
Many others are suggesting me a MAC. I would like to have it. a few minutes later im out looking more stores, & why not looking for MAC, there is a MAC shop 10 mins away from me, its the same place I got my Acer from & I know the guy well.
