After talking extensively about the trance releases in the Classic of the Week section, the time has come to satisfy the house minority in TH with a unique release :) .

Yoshitoshi Recordings is the label proper to Deep Dish and was founded in the late 90’s. This label featured all over the years many releases by some of the biggest house names such as Danny Howells, Lexicon Avenue or Morel. Every release coming out from this label becomes a major clubbing hit and becomes part of several compilations.

One of these unforgettable releases is “The Baguio Track” by Luzon. Originally composed by Luzon in 1999, the track was not released until 2000 under Yoshitoshi.

As for Luzon( real name: Stacey Burket ), most of her releases appeared on many compilations since 1996 but the most unforgettable production of this talented producer remains “The Baguio Track”. You can also find some of her productions or compilations under the alias Groova, Groovaholic or Outamba.

One of the most remixed tracks ever “The Baguio Track” is progressive house at its best. This track begins smoothly with a tribal-influenced bass-line. Throughout the minutes a Gregorian voice enriches the background elements and adds some divine vocals to the continuous beat. This release maintains a level of energy with no breakdowns. This release is the true sound of the progressive house era that emerged in the late 90’s. Even though Yoshitoshi was the first label to release this tune, it got considerable support from all the big house labels such as Renaissance or Modul. Many artists took part in remixing this tune such as Jan Driver, Luzon herself in 2001, Chus and Ceballos, or the most famous of all: the legendary Bedrock label who gave it a progressive trance side. As for the big names who featured this track in their compilations, we find Dave Seaman who featured it in his Global Underground Cape Town making use of its full-on progressive trance side, John Digweed featured it exclusively in his Global Underground Hong-Kong in 1999. The famous label Renaissance also used it in its compilation Ibiza by Night in 2001. As for Ferry Corsten, it was the Bedrock remix that appeared on his Trance Nation 2001.

Welcome to DJ.Malaria you may wonder why I called this group Dj Malaria.
Just like Malaria takes over a person's body when it hits them i want my music's originality to control the soul of whoever hears it in that sense my music is more powerful than Malaria, and I'm sure it will but in a positive way of
course.

I've always loved the Bedrock remix but never bothered to check the original, so thank you for the wakeup call! Excellent review as ever Alain!

Heard the Bedrock remix on a Renaissance imprint though originally it was released on Yoshitoshi as mentioned in the review. Also some interesting post-2000 remixes ... I just love the tasty progressive flavor in it beautifully blended with gorgeous enchanting chants at the background. Well chosen/written dear!
The Music was New, black polished Chrome and came over the summer like liquid Night ...
