It went very bad actually and I was very dissapointed.
I don't really know who's mistake was it, but it surely wasn't mine,
here's what happened:
When I first arrived with @mr and Icepick (who was supposed to play from 12 till 1 am) at 11:30 pm, some guy (I don't really know who the hell he is, maybe the manager or the resident DJ there) told @mr that we should mainly play some commercial house...that was the first shock I had, and I knew something was going to be wrong that night.
@mr told me not to listen to him, and that I can play whatever I want, which was actually what we agreed on when he first told me about the night.
So at exactly 12 am, Icepick took over the decks and started spinning some great house tunes (tracklist Icepick??).
My friends who booked 3 tables at the place (like some 30 friends of mine came to see me spinning) arrived, and at 12:30 the place started to fill up, and was full at around 1 am.
This is when I was supposed to take over, and this is when Icepick was spinning his last track. I went to the DJ booth, took a CD, put it into the CD player (a 1000 mk2) hit the "play" button, but nothing happened....hit the play button again, and again nothing was playing...I realized something was wrong with the CD player.
I rushed to find someone to talk to before the playing song would finish...
I found this same rude guy i met when we first arrived, and told him about the problem, his reply was "who the hell broke the play button?, you people are responsible for this!" and this is when I had my second shock of the night....
He got another CD player from somewhere (a cdj 200), plugged it, and asked not to let any of us approach the DJ booth (wtf??), he took over the decks himself, and started spinning some commercial stuff ("rise up"..."infinity"..."let me be ur fantasy"...u name it) so he turned out to be a DJ...
3 minutes later, while Mr.DJ was spinning, the second CD player broke down (the screen went off....) but they managed to get another cd player instead. And I knew from some person working at Bank that the CD players weren't in a great condition, and that both were broken, and were fixed like 2 days back...
30 minutes later, @mr called me to take over the decks...so I went there, and started spinning some house music (my plan was to start with house, and then switch to trance at the peak of the night).
I played exactly 4 tracks ("Dj Tatana - Spring breeze (martin roths summer style remix)", A and N project - just when i think there's an answer jolyon petch vs. elektrik disco mix)", "Blank and Jones - California sunset (martin roth vs blank and jones mashup)", "eric prydz - pjanoo (club mix)") before this same rude person (Mr.Dj) comes to me and ask me to leave the decks and come back at 3 am....(Yes ur right, that was my third shock)...
Anyways, I left the decks, and went to sit at my friend's table, and was shocked to hear Mr.DJ playing some arabic tunes, some Rnb, and God knows what else, so at around 3 am, I went to DJ booth again to pick up my stuff and leave....He asked me to take over, but I refused...amplifying studio crew asked me to spin, but again I refused...this is not how a DJ should be treated, and shame on who ever was responsible.
I wasn't mainly pissed for not spinning...I was mainly pissed off because some friends of mine came specially to witness what I had to offer to them...but they listened to some Arabic and commercial house music instead...Is this how customers should be treated? I'm very dissapointed really....It was one of my worst nights.
Now you people know how the night went on!
