Should be interesting 'cause I've only seen Ton T.B. live before.
The Tiësto gig at the same venue was sold out and it didn't draw my interest anyways. So I'll tell you guys how it was on Monday...

It's 7.30 AM and I just got home. I'll be going to sleep soon. Just wanted to say that it was a great night! You guys should have been there! I tried to remember as much tracks as I could. Full review and pictures will follow later of course. For now... Goodnight!

Time for a complete review!
Before it got closed due to drugs problems, Illusion was one of Belgian's most known trance clubs. Especially during the early and late 90's it was one of the places to be for the average trance lover.
Recently the club re-opened on a different location and under a different name. It's now called Club Mystique. Because of the more and more decreasing popularity of trance here, the club also felt they had to broaden their offer. This led to the inclusion of genres such as Club, Groove, Funk, Disco Nouveau and R&B (:roll:
) which are now spinned on a regular basis by the resident DJ's there.
They kept using the Illusion brand for their summer event called Illusion at the Beach, which is organised in a previously abandoned warehouse in the Belgian seaside city of Ostend.
The event was split in 4 areas:
- Retro
- Club, Groove and Funk
- Trance
- An outside area with a house DJ spinning
I arrived there by train with two friends at quite an early hour. Since Ton T.B. started at 11.00 PM we wanted to make sure that we didn't miss a thing! After some waiting at the entry we entered the warehouse venue were unknown warm-up DJ's were already pumping beats. This was the ideal chance to start drinking, look around the place and to check out the ladies
Hosted by the über-irritating and annoying MC Stanford the Blackhole evening was ready to start in the trance area. Slowly more people started pouring in, all though I must say that when Ton T.B. started, the dance floor was still half empty
Ton started off in quite a hard and monotonous yet lower tempo style of progressive. Slowly he started to build up towards a climax within his set and the crowd realized that as well. After 1.00 AM he started to get better and better and then the bombs came along. I can remember:
Antidote - Sciabada
Ton T.B. - Dream Machine
Three Drives - Carrera 2
Ton T.B. - Electronic Malfunction
No Greece 2000 though!
In the last part of his set a percussionist came along for live accompaniment. The guy was no Setrak Sarkissian but he surely knew how to create a nice atmosphere with those tribal sounds. An original and blasting touch to a very solid and well picked set.
Ton gets a 9/10 from me.
The first thing you notice about Cor Fijneman is that he's fat and he's got quite a large belly. Luckily that didn't form an obstacle above the turntables
He started off with, what I think was, the Junkie XL Remix of Dirty Sticky Floors.
Cor has this weird habit of mixing melodic tracks with tracks in alternative genres. What bombs do I remember?
A to me unknown remix of the classic Robert Miles - Children.
Delerium feat. Sarah MacLachlan - Silence (DJ Tiësto Mix)
Mojado feat. Mr. Sam - Naranja
A trance version of that track by the White Strips. The crowd went wild but I didn't like it.
He finished the set off with Benny Benassi - Love Is Gonna Save Us (Original Mix).
I missed a small part in the middle of his set 'cause they were blasting to many trance classics in the retro area. I simply couldn't resist that so I simply went there!
I give Cor a 8/10 mainly 'cause of his impeccable mixing skills and the nice atmosphere he knows to create.
I've always known that Mark Norman are a production duo yet Mark Norman as DJ consists of one guy only. I thought maybe they'd do a back-to-back but my guess was wrong. He started of with Tiësto's version of Adagio for Strings. Then he switched to some of his own tracks and then again to Tiësto tracks. I had the feeling he tried to immitate Tiësto in a playlist way and in a on stage presence way as well. Since I had to leave a bit earlier to catch my train back and since the floor was drawing empty I didn't have the chance to see his whole set. One bomb that he did drop was Katana - Gemini. Oh my God!
Other tracks played that I can name and remember:
DJ Tiësto feat BT - Love Comes Again (Mark Norman Remix)
Alexander Gustaff - Sex Machine (Mark Norman Remix)
Since all Mark Norman tracks are alike I must confess that I had a hard time distinguishing them, come up with their name and remembering them. But he played a fair amount of own productions.
Mark Norman gets a 6/10 due to unoriginality. The girl dancing in front of me and who, in the end, appeared to be his girlfriend gets a 10/10

Damn those pics remind me of PVD's event ... one month has passed and i still feel like it was yesterday ... and now i'm hungry for more
