Saleem I texted you a couple of times!!! ANYWAY, 16 Bit Loolitas was canceled due to "health reasons". Dion Maveth I think played instead... B&J were here last Friday @ Club Fratelli or whatever it is called at Habtoor Grand's ballroom (Where Peppermint resided for a few months)...

Man the marketing and promotion of EDM events has gone down the drain here,,, Last year if there was any event of some importance you'd get:
-An SMS on your phone
- At least one e-mail
- At least one event invitation on Facebook (Which I am not on anymore, albeit temporarily)
- Endless word of mouth

Now? Heck, a friend told me this morning that David Guetta is playing here tonight and I swear I never heard anything about it, and we're talking about a typical cheesy ass producer/dj who is adored by this town's mainly plastic crowd... Nick Warren is supposed to play tonight or at some point this month, not sure exactly when, and I haven't received any ads about it (OK I am not the center of the world, I sadly and totally acknowledge that, but what I mean that their marketing efforts used to be better before in reaching every average tom, dick and harry like me)

And yeah i have to agree with Omar on this one! The marketing effort is non existant anymore. No club is marketing their events and if they are their doin it so little that u dnt notice it, the onle thing i see from clubs, is wen ure going out they give u a flyer for next week's event.... Ya well that sucks! Cuz i cnt afford goin around club piking up their flyers to see wats hapenin!

And About Nick Warren it's tonight at Fratelli (never been to it) And dunno if im gona make it tonite cuz its pretty far, duno ticket price and not even sure if i'd get in

Fratelli's like a mini-peppermint (The very same ballroom where Above & Beyond played in December '07 and I missed out ), but you will definitely be able to get in, they seem desperate for people to go because the place never fills up... Ticket will cost at least 100 dirhams

Haven't heard about any of those events that you posted, which is rather weird, always got emails and txts from Fluid promoting their events, haven't received anything since Ferry perhaps, anyhow, not like I'm missing out on anything

Samlbronkowitz- I went but didn't bother to go in, I was not THAT pumped up for 16 bit lolitas, let alone Dion Mavath!! And, having had a camera broken and stolen at events (Some drunk faggot at AvB in December 2006 and Above & Beyind bi Wadi Rum 2007 )

I'm kinda glad 16BL was cancelled so I don't feel I missed out! And who is this Dion-wannabe? There's only ONE Dion in Dubai! You know, because my schedule has been swamped with gigs ever since I moved here 8 months ago... *weeps in the corner*

bronko no worries bro. When I'm traveling it's usually on weekdays, I'm always in town on weekends unless I'm Beiruting it, which I will be doing next week, so no Lazarus for me. Warren is also next Friday people! I'm pissed the fuck off I'm missing him!

Since we're all suffering from this lack of marketing or whatever you want to call it, let's keep this thread alive with updates. I'm definitely in for Kyau & Albert, Ronski Speed, and above all the epic reuniting of Sasha & Diggers!!!

This Dion guy was somehow voted amongst the world's top 100 djs a couple of years ago, I know that it's more of a publicity contest rather than an actual fair and objective ranking, but how he made it there is well beyond me (http://www.arabianbusiness.com/press_re ... etail/4164)

Don't think any other events have been announced recently... I hope that some promoter miraculously manages to bring A&B to these shores part of their world tour, very gutted that I'm missing out on their gig in B-town =(

^ I hate you Dubai youth gets the chance to listen to the world's best DJs and i, a Trancer, get the chance to listen to the world's "best" orchestra i.e. synchronized gunshots towards the sky from different areas of the city. And there are also various instruments used such as a normal gun, some kalashnikov, some AK-47, some bazooka, etc. The common thing is that both the DJs and the shooters kill people on the dancefloor with their wonderful music and smiles on their faces, unfortunately the second ones kill for real. Just like the soundwaves hit the ravers, the bullets hit people as well when falling down from the sky!
