Hi guys and girls
How are you?
Hope the weekend is treating you good!
Well what’s been going on for the few days, been getting a lot of tracks sent over from new, up and coming producers through facebook and myspace (Really lovin the work guys keep it up).
So for shore I’ll be featuring them in the show soon
Been getting lots of new interviews for summer, there is plenty of wicked new albums and singles coming in the next few months and you’ll get to here them on “The Edge” first.
Well last week we finished are two week look at the new album of Solarstone called “Rain Stars Eternal” so a big shout out for Rich for coming on the show, he has promised to come back in the coming weeks with a guest set too.
On to this weeks show, we sit down and have and exclusive chat with “Peter Kriek” from the duo “16 Bit Lolitas”!!!!
He’ll be talking about his new projects, working with “Ariaan Olieroock” (The second half of 16 bit) and what’s been happening over the past few months.
These guys are receiving amazing support from the worlds biggest including: John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Glenn Morrison, Sasha, Deep Dish, Nick Warren… the list goes on and on…
Here is a little bio about the guys:
Peter Kriek and Ariaan Olieroock had been making music on their own for some time before joining forces and becoming 16Bit Lolitas in 2003.
This collaboration quckly produced a wave of releases. Tracks such as The Puppet Show, Destiny, My Lexicon, Stereo Control and the epic Sedna quickly followed on labels as diverse as Yoshitoshi, Alternative Route , Release, Sadie, Plastic Fantastic, Nu Republic, Armada, Minimal, DK and LMR.
The 16Bit sound is aimed at the ‘thinking clubber’: shimmering bass ines that are devised to test the cream of the world’s sound systems to the max, compressed kicks that rarely exceed 128 BPM with sparkling hi-hats sprinkled on top.
On many tracks, hints of vocals sway in and out of the mix and the subtle loops build tension in a way that defies the producers’ relatively young ages. It’s music that can create a soundscape and deliver a killer blow without the need for constant drum rolls or appegiated synths.
