Rome’s Dissonanze festival has been announced for another year be prepared to broaden your horizons!
Now here’s an international festival that’ll attract the culture vultures Rome’s Dissonanze festival is dedicated to a rip-roaring range of avant-garde music, theatre and art.
Taking place from May 19 - 21, Dissonanze is based in the elegant surroundings of the Palazzo Dei Congressi, a beautiful white marble building from the 1940s. From there you’ll be able to witness various experiemental digital displays from DJs, VJs and performers and get involved in a variety of workshops and classes.
The music also stretches to one of Rome’s finest clubs, the Goa. On various nights you’ll be able to experience the aural delights of acid house, progressive and techno from the likes of Nathan Fake and James Holden. There’s also plenty of techno to be found in the Palazzo Dei Congressi with artists such as Richie Hawtin and Speedy J showcasing the delights of minimal music.
As you may have gathered, the idea of the fesitval isn’t to show off the biggest line ups and attract the usual festival crowd. To use a rather cliched phrase, this truly is far out; many of the performances and works you’ll experience are commisioned solely for the event and absolutely everything you’ll witness is designed to push the boundaries of digital art and music.
