In an era where Jersey Shore becomes a hit TV show and Paris Hilton can get away with snorting cocaine on cable TV, it is no surprise people drifted away to social networking. It's easy to use, comfy, fun and the way for a lot of people to unleash the slut in them (whether it is male or female). Forums have died because replies such as these don't belong on Facebook. People look for quick fixes and gossips which is why Facebook is now the tool it is.
I love forums and their presence is necessary on the internet. Where else will you find IT solutions, advice from people who've done something before you and exhaustive reviews that don't use the word OMG four times every line or so? But truth be said, only dedicated forums will survive the current social network onslaught. And even a forum dedicated for a specific music in a specific area of the world couldn't manage to survive. Change is upon us. Trance.nu is not the first victim and certainly won't be the last. I don't mind social networking not a single bit. For a lot of people it's a great tool to fill certain social voids in their lives. Pathetic is it not? Well no, it's funny as hell. People are constantly looking for attention and nowadays a simple profile picture change will spark a wave of e-mails to one's inbox while others are observing and giggling.
So the only way to still find a forum online is to have a glitch or a bug in the newest NBA 2k11 or Call of Duty: Black Ops and look it up on these forums for potential solutions.
What I just wrote might be more of a statement, but hey I missed that feeling of writing to pawn someone or to describe some cool event I've been to. The time of forums is gone, the dawn of social networking is upon us.
