For his first visit to Lebanon, Satoshi Tomiie finally landed in Beirut on February 6th in order to offer us a mind blowing night that would definitely be tattooed in our Electronic Dance Music scene. As many music fans were impatiently waiting for his coming over here throughout the last years, every single one of them wouldn’t but anticipate an outstanding set by the master himself.
I arrived to Forum De Beyrouth at around 11:30, where people were still gathering around in front of the venue. Door policy was kind of wise and gentle, it was done on a good level.
The warm up set was as usually building up the ambiance on the dance floor, and wow … Ali Ajami really, really pulled it off!! Very intelligent music, rich elements, groovy sounds. From Boston to Beirut, this guy has always had a live reputation in the music industry. I loved every single track he dropped, forming a gorgeous track list which I wouldn’t but picture as a warm up for the Jap guy and no one else! Ali Ajami’s music was so far subtle, yet with a driving force leading to some peak energetic moments carried up with dazzling melodies here and there. In my personal opinion, Ali Ajami’s warm up set hit its climax with "Robert Babicz - Dark Flower (Joris Voorn Remix)". It was just unbelievably good and eventually drove the crowd crazy. Chapeau bas Ajami, this was by far among my favorite warm-ups in the country. WELL DONE !!
From Inspired to Nubree to Renaissance Part 11 reaching to my very personal favorite: Yesterday’s series. In my opinion, last night was a true renaissance in our Electronic Dance Music history. I might be wrong, but this is just my personal opinion. Satoshi Tomiie kicked off with a striking intro, attractive vocals echoing constantly maintained by a sexy techy to Techno-ish background. Satoshi Tomiie mastered his skills yesterday night, and fine tuned them right behind his Apple book as he has always been doing in the music field. The music had lots of twisted turn points, aside of the skillful progressive flow of the set, Tomiie’s music enclosed elegant emotions the whole time. That even with high-pitched beats and filthy bass-lines, we could actually hear delicate melodies sneaking in to a deep dark music environment therefore embellishing the overall setting. And yes, what a prosperous outcome to be eventually released, decorating the atmosphere with real optimistic vibes. Remarked diversity also played its efficient effective role that night, as music wouldn’t sound any fancier without it.
Concerning the after hours with Ronin & Nesta, well unfortunately again I couldn’t stay later for more. Hence any feedback about their performance would be much appreciated; I know those guys are promising enough.
The sound system was so far really good. Definitely much better in the blue section, however it also worked really fine in the VIP, got enough pleasure of it myself. Thumbs up for that!
Setup was also good. Maybe not excellent, but it was so far minimalist and serene with two white ponies/unicorns on the left/right sides of the DJ-booth (though didn't really get its matching with Tomiie and the music, nevertheless ...). The screen setting and VJ were interesting as well, bringing live mutual interaction between Satoshi and the crowd since now and then.
Lighting, very nice! Especially at the moment when Satoshi took over the decks, it was brilliant to be honest; although I did not notice colored lasers or some of its kind.
Bar/Crystal Service was respectful and kind.
It wasn’t too overcrowded in the three sections (weird how VIP got half-empty after 2:00 AM), maybe the “segmentation” laid its effect after all, though it was cool and we had enough space to dance and enjoy. The crowd quality was not bad, as it always had its advantages and disadvantages, normal in our scene.
Well done Q Entertainment, it was well organized in spite of some natural weaknesses. Thanks for such a great night!
