My story below:
It was in 2001 If am not mistaken, In France.
I remember being at my friends shop and I had to replace him for few minutes and watch the shop (a computer related shop) because he wanted to go to the bathroom.
So I am there watching the people passing by (the shop was in a mall), and then a cute "OMFG" sexy girl come over, dressed like a clubber, she comes to the shop says hi and ask me about my friend, I told her he will be back in a while, then she said if I can do something for her I said sure (fuck yea in my mind) she gave me a CD and she said she’d like to duplicate it I said okey ill do it, so I plugged the CD in the duplicator and hit the COPY button, mean while the CD is burning, I went to her and we start talking, then she start looking at the CD album pictures and I asked her, WHAT IS THAT CD? She said. THIS IS MAGIC, I asked what kind of music is it?
She said TRANCE. [ the album was TRANCE NATION 2001 MIXED BY FERRY CORSTEN]
Back to this time I wasn’t so much into Trance, I would listen to it but without really knowing what it is or so, I was in into electronic music, Drum n bass, Trip Hop, House and that is due to my friends because in our neighbor we had a lot of people who draw on walls and make graffiti and x-treme skaters, roller bladders and skate board dudes and this is all what they used to play, I was born and grew up with electronic music . So I told the girl: Oh Trance! The Drugs Musik ! she smiled and said: u like it? I told her no not really, then she told me, DO A SECOND COPY OF THE CD AND TAKE ONE FOR YOU, I was like oh okey tanks, when both of the cd’s were done she gave me one and told me, THIS IS GOLD, LISTEN TO IT, YOU WILL LOVE IT AND ONE DAY YOU WILL THANK ME BECAUSE I GAVE YOU THIS MUSIC AND WOKE YOU UP TO LIFE.
Later on at night while I was with my friends in the streets, I get the cd and play it in the walkman and SHILLER HITS ME IN WITH Das Glockenspiel [first track on disc one]
Few minutes later Flesh by Jan Johnston is mixed in and I was like WOW wait a min, this shit is nice, I told my friends I have to leave and go home, I went running to my house and while running the music was still on and I made it louder, Strange World by Push was playing.
I got home, went up to my room, locked the door, jumped on my bed, laying on my back and kept on playing the CD so loud on my ears and I was like SHOCKED and saying in my mind, W A T D A F U C K is that ?! this is amazing, the music was so good!
And then TENSHI by Gouryella came in, (the track changed my life on a later stage, I did discover my identity with TENSHI)
I was so shocked, could not tell if I was dreaming or awake it was magical.
I kept on playing that track over and over and over for months! I still play it so much till our days and every time I hear it its like the first time I am hearing it.
And I felt in love with Ferry Corsten and start looking for him and he’s gigs in Europe.
By then, TRANCE became everything I would listen too and I start spreading it over to my friends to all the people in our block and when ever the guys meet to do shows for
x-treme sports I used to always snick to the DJ booth and give TRANCE music to the DJ and beg him to play it, until everyone start playing it, buying it and going clubbing on it.
I still have that Album that girl gave me and every time I see it and touch it I remember her and I do exactly as I did the first time, lock my room lay on my bed on my back and plug the headphones and higher the volume, listen and I smile.
Her name was GAEL, I wish I can see her again, well maybe she was an angel
