One thing I dislike about EDM sub-genre listeners is closed-mindedness. You can easily spot that among a good number of, for example, "trancers" and "housers".
Well last night, this trancer decided to give the much talked about club Basement a try. Call me outdated, but it was the first time I had the chance to check it out, surely not because of any anti-House mentality (although I do despise Basement's anti-Trance mentality) but because none of my clubbing mates were ever excited to go since, unfortunately, they have a blind hatred of House, one which I constantly try to eradicate as I find it utterly uneducated.
I was finally able to drag them last night, and boy were they and I impressed! I was really excited to check out the venue and music, and although I couldn't stay long despite my plans to spend the night there, but this little time alone was enough for me to give the place and its music my thumbs up. The club was over-packed and I couldn't stay long enough to walk around and sweep out all four corners, but the place literally is a basement, as you walk down some long stairs underground to reach the floor. The DJ booth is right above the bar, but in an even better way than Centro, as the DJ and the crowd can more easily communicate due to its more "exposed" design.
As for the music, and if I am not mistaken, the DJ was spinning Electro House - it was dark, it was deep, it was techy, it was edgy, but most importantly it was dirty, and I love dirty! I pretty much enjoyed the few tracks I had the time to hear, and surprisingly so did my friends, who actually stayed there for a couple of hours after I left. The sound system was very well distributed as well, something quite rare in local clubs, and the sound wasn't too loud to prevent chit-chats yet banging enough to prevent you from remaining seated. Despite the over-crowdedness, the overall ambiance was much better than that you find at B018, and so adding it all up, I really recommend this place to everyone in here. We still don't have a Trance club, so we might as well enjoy the closest thing to it... I know I will be!
I was also delighted to run into TH's resident PARTY ANIMALS Pathos & JAD - nothing beats clubbing with these two maniacs! Thanks for the warm welcome guys and we'll definitely fix something up soon mates, surely in Basement!
