What can i say about Japan... i'm out of words. I thought i've seen it all in places like London, Amsterdam, Sao Paulo and Ibiza.

BOY WAS I WRONG!

little did i expect for Japan to be as much on a whole different level EDM wise as it is Techonology wise.

I admit my knowledge of the Japanese scene, DJs was quite ignorant. i'm truly grateful for that trip, to experience THE BEST music, clubbing experience, crowds i have yet to encounter, in addition to DJs.

In a Trancer PoV:

its heaven..... i didn't know that Japan accounted for 60% of Trance Revenues worldwide.

yes... it is HUGE... and clubbers settle for nothing but the best!

What struck me the most though... is a kind of a Japanese unique style of trance that they seem to call CYBER TRANCE!

My first Night @ Roppongi, Tokyo.... at one of the most prominant Cyber Trance clubs in Japan... Club Velfare!

I arrived there near to peak time.. to get greated by a DJ that i have previously vaguely heard of.... and what after only 30 minutes became the DJ that gave me the best EDM clubbing experience of my life (Sorry Armin.. u can bite on a snickers bar and get in the trunk buddy )

its the one and only YOJI BIOMEHANIKA, the winner of many awards including the "prestigious" Release magazine, Amsterdam Dance Event 2005 award for best hard Dance/Trance DJ.

i will no longer speak about him (my balls ache at the mention of his name)... u go to his website and check that freak out, and download some of his sets, remixes or productions!

Psychedelic Trance:

Boy is Genesis gonna be in for a treat... cause that is not only the mainstream of EDM music in Japan... it is the main stream of ALL music in Japan lol.

Most notable Psychedelic club in Tokyo is called club Mazel which has resident DJs spinning some of the most exciting Psy toons that seem to more than please the Jap elite Psy population. In addition to that, they seem to attract all the Israeli talents in full on Psy Israel Vs. Japan events.

DnB:

ho ho ho.... was a Merry Freakin Christmas for me over there... although it kind of comes third to Psy, Cyber trance. The scene is still freakishly healthy... as healthy as the UK scene to say the least! With some of the best DJs/Producers in the world such as DJ Makoto and his label. I had to make a trip to Osaka though, cause it was the captial of DnB in Japan.

House:

Satoshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii... all the freakin way baby. and guess what? there are plenty of Jap DJs that are very close to his calibre... House fans will be on for a treat... Although, it comes in 4th .... its still a mainstream form of music.

All in all, in all my hype and bad writing lol

i strongly advise u all to make a trip to Japan... either by flesh or by trying to dig in deeper into the Japanese style of EDM.

Last but not least,

WE NEED YOJI BIOMEHANIKA IN BEIRUT OR RUM

ASAP!

Man this guy is a GoD... make sure u sleep for two days before seeing him.... i couldn't move from the bed for the rest of the weekend let alone walk from all the dancing

After reading your review NS I am seriously thinking of traveling to Japan in the coming years. I've always heard of the outstanding clubbing scene there and Ferry Corsten always praised their clubbing scene. I've also listened and read reviews about Yoji's gigs for quite some time and his style is always surprising. Japan is under rated for sure and I am glad you posted this review to enlighten us to this somehow unknown scene. I believe the Japanese are living in their own world.

Japan is certainly creating a league of its own when it comes to passionate DJs and crowds!

The house scene in Lebanon is slowly growing, maybe Satoshi could make an appearance!

As for Yoji, nothing can explain the amount of high voltage he electricute his crowd with. U guys should try get ahold of some of his sets @ Club Velfare..where he seemed to be playing full on Cyber Trance when i was there Or better yet, try download a live video.. and watch how the crowd reacts to him, and his show.... or u can also try get what is acclaimed to be one of the best Sensation Black sets in history.... his 2004 sensation Black set.... but u might not like how it begins.. cause he starts off Darkcore and then gradually throw in some Cyber trance tracks in... and end the last 30 minutes or so.. with full on wicked Cyber Trance/Hard Dance tracks!

Oh yea Japan is well ahead
