SONY MDRV-700 Headphones

I was wondering whether any of the TH members and DJs owns a SONY MDRV-700. I bought one a couple of weeks ago and I would like to hear your evaluations of it.

It would be preferable to hear comments from people who actually own the SONY headphones. I am not looking for additional online reviews in my post (or "I've heard they were good/poor" comments), I've read way too many of those. Just comments from people who have used them or are using them now.

Thanks.

Bilal

i tried it out at the sony store, the one near LAU.. it felt more delicate to handle than my hdh1000s... i prefer the pioneers since they are or maybe feel a little tougher.. both have great sound...

my hdjs went through a lot and are still alive and well :)

ummmm the Sony is OK. I've had 2 pair over the last 4 years. Problem is indeed the cracking of the joint between the headpiece and the speaker itself. IT KEEPS BUSTING!
Even the new design ones are not all that much better because the fault was in the design not in the "making it stronger"

I personally prefer the TECHNICS RPDH1200 DJ/REMIX HEADPHONES. Why? look at the design and see the joint is round in contrast to straight as the sony's.

It's more durable and if like me u need to pack it and travel a lot it's better to have a pair that wont bust on you. I recommended it for lots of DJs including jojo that bought one from here (dubai) last week. Cheapest prices are in Kuwait. I got mine for $109. It's $160 elsewhere and I'm sure over $200 in lebo-land.

Talk about irony and bad luck.....and I was telling you Dio that Ebay is very practical when shopping DJ equipment. Well, it is still practical but not all the time; apparently the guy who is selling me the SONY has just emailed me telling me that he is unable to ship the headphones for a number of reasons. I am currently in the process of claiming by money back from EBay, so that shouldn't be a problem. Meanwhile, I feel lucky to be offered the chance to rethink my decision to buy SONY. Now that I have read Ahmad's review of the Technics headphones, I think I am going to buy them instead of the SONY.
Weird, this has never happened to me before at EBay, I've never had problems buying stuff. This guy is going down, his percentage is dropping for sure, I am taking him down!

Although I liked the shape of those SONY  , but hell I don't want my headphones to break. So Technics it is.

YES! That's the spirit! Let me send u pictures of the Technics!! make u love them more. Just search the Technics links I placed earlier... look and compare the design to the Sony's... the back-casing of the headphone is clear like a mirror so incase you start to drip sweat you can see how nasty (yet into it) you look ;) .
The cracking of the joint has happened to just about everyone I know that has had a pair. I actually took mine and turned it into a single heaphone with a "pipe" that still sounds great (even though it looks like your using a telephone).
If you use it for home use it might not bust. the sound is an exact replica of the Sony's with a few extra milliwats more power. Same size speaker for the headphone, so no ear cramps.
the headphone cable is detatchable (in any case it should get ruined).
Plus te Technics (2004 design) is a 5 year upgrade of the Sony (1999 design). so lots of feedback has gone to technics to make the ideal headphone. Dude if you know anyone in Kuwait like amadeus' brother, let them get it for you. I know someone in lebanon that's selling them for $250!!!! RIP OFF! In Kuwait it's max $130.

GO TECHNICS HEADPHONES!
now about those sweaty headphone pictures from sunday..

^ the website has nothing to do with the shipping destinations. it's the
sellers option to ship worldwide or not.

there's a lot of stuff i find on www.ebay.co.uk but the seller says, 'we ship
to UK only' and although im in the EU region, and yet more, just next to
UK across the boarders, he/she won't ship it. so it's up to the seller mate
not the site. the website is only the platform between a buyer and a seller
and take their comission from sellers.
if there's something u should worry about, then it's the post service in
lebanon. i always send stuff to lebanon that never get there, they couldn't
find the address, or been searched (coz smalla.. we've no privacy in leb)
and the material was not allowed in (though it's sometimes just normal
stuff).
i sometimes send stuff to leb from UK coz they have a better mail service
than Ireland. te package leaves the country the very next day and gets to
lebanon in 5 working days at most. but delivering it to the address within
Lebanon..well.. that's where u got nothing to do but cross ur fingers to
have it. last package i sent, never arrived. and the one before took 4
weeks.
the best trick u can do is having a PO box, at least they can find it in your
uni or the mail office you are a client at.

Bilal, i didn't experience what Ahmad went throught with the Sony (so far)
i honestly thought they fixed it with the second version, but if not, then i
guess i should also be careful with mine.
u might also want to check the pioneers. they're top class and been
getting very popular lately. if fact, if my Sony HD broke down, i'll go for a
pioneer.

best of luck claiming your money back.
