So i was listening to: Way Out West- Chasing Rainbows, such a marvelous ambient track... hell, each and everyone of Way Out West productions fit the bill i reckon.

So i what i was thinking i never really got why Ambient music never had it's fair share of the limelight.... I mean you rarely hear it in anything besides movie credits or some Sci-fi/Porn scenes..

what are you're takes on the issue?

I am a big fan of ambient / chill out music , and regularly buy albums from that specific sound !

Actually ambient is somewhat popular , but the problem is that it cant be played out at many events / locations unless you are aiming for a specific atmosphere / mood . Ambient can be enjoyed at lounges , maybe some restaurants , at home while entertaining guests , and maybe while you are working from home or just hanging around . Not many radio stations play such music , as compared to pop / dance / house where it is played out almost everywhere these days , and especially clubs .

I also think , as you get older, you start to appreciate that sound more and more . At least in my case , this is what happened ...

i also like the chill out versions of dance tracks . sooo many tracks sound better when they are in down tempo mode when compared with original versions !!

I like ambient, but I'm hardly in a "zen place" to go ahead and listen to ambient. Having said that, I do have a good lot of compilations. Depends on the mood and lately I've been very psychedelic and progressive (not to mention e-clip)...

I'm in love with Chillout and Ambient! There is here a very successful radio station called Chilly Zet that has ONLY Chillout music! Not being so popular doesn't mean that it never got its fair kudos. I think that it's better that Ambient (and Chillout also) remains not so popular cuz otherwise the money hungry bastards will smell dollars here and it will suck as much as Vocal Trance nowadays.

so anyone got any good Ambient mixes to share then? i'm always up for some new content, especially with stuff like Ambient/Chillout because it is just beyond diverse and pretty much limitless in terms of variety of sound. I mean u can literally record the waves breaking on a shore or a rat munching on a carpet and they both could qualify for Ambient tracks


@Quality: Notice how Gen says that he has been "lately much into psychedelic".... i'm not quite sure what he means by Lately, possibly a sly hint that in his previous reincarnations he wasn't a psy fan?

lol.. Lately just refers to the last few months. I do enjoy other EDM - house, all progressive, and ambient but I've been unearthing some excellent psy in the last few months that I'm finding it hard to listen to anything else (except Eminem - Love the way you lie .. lol)
