to be honest , i am impressed !! Almost all the tracks are exlusive to this release !! very interested in checking this one out when it gets released ....

Is ISOS emulating (or attempting to emulate) the Global Underground city series?...

No clue about the tracklist, but who knows... I might just check it when it's out. Pleasantly surprised to see BT in there!!

Do you see a pattern?

Yeah it's a marketing pattern. Not necessarily related or gimmicking GU I think.

The location on every ISOS is the place that "inspired" the artist the most during this year and he usually tries to reflect the vibes he got from there... But I don't know about those of GU, how are those chosen?

Conceptual Development

Each issue in the series is based on the idea that Global Underground would take DJs to play a party in one of the most unusual, exotic clubbing locations on Earth. The set is then released in a 2CD format that is formatted to capture the night of the party and the overall feel of the DJ visit in music, contemporary photography and extensive sleeve notes.

So are GUs sets or compilations?

I feel I'm offending GU fans in here

^ They used to be recorded live sets with the likes of New York, Oslo, Athens, Tel Aviv, Budapest, Brazil, and Prague releases. But they then switched to studio-mixed compilations for quality purposes. Those compilations though feature whatever tunes the DJ played on the actual night on location.

ISOS seem to be following suit. Nothing wrong with that; just an observation.

To add to Zizo's line, every GU edition is also released in limited edition and that is also a beauty to go through; photography, interviews and quotes with clubbers, and a DVD including snippets from the party, an interview with the DJ, and a photo gallery. It's all high quality stuff and VERY collectable! I've never enjoyed (or encountered) a consistently quality-delivering EDM series as GU.
