Well this is something we all go through each day , unless ure a person who doesnt give a dingdang about music .

How Do u reach a point where u can actually say * This Music SUCKS *

-as in how to know whats bad music and whats not ?

-what foundations and aspects u rely on inorder to judge upon a certain genre or track that it sucks ?

-Ever got the same feedback from somebody else ?

-Why Do You Consider What U Listen To Supreme , while other genres are just the mashup of old closed minded peeps ?

Great topic..tho i don't think i'm gonna contribute here much..

just wanted to say in my case..there's no such thing as "that Genre of music Sux".. there's Always a track or Artist from any Music Genre that you'll Love and Love a lot!!

Personally i hate for an example Metal and Hard Rock and of course Arabic "shit that they call tarab".. but there's is a couple of track that i LOVE.. even know that i think other releases from the same artist isn't worth a HorseShit !..
for an example Country Music is like a Torture for my ears : but i like some of "Johnny Cash's" Songs!

Basically for me there's no foundation nor aspects to rely on in this issue.. you either like it or you don't.. it's not about the Bpm range..or the female/male vocals.. or the musical instrument used in the track/song.. it's all about the fact that if you can(or would like to) listen to it again and again or not..

There is no bad music... there is only bad taste.



To briefly broaden it; all music is good. But depending on your taste & mood, what was great at 8.30 am in your ipod on your way to work while on the bus, might be aural suicide after a 12-hour shift, triple decked burger for dinner, and two pints of premium swedish cider at 11 pm.

Well here comes the problem , I for instance have this habit of listening to Dubstep at the morning , now this may be a bit wacky , but i also sleep on psytrance , fa i dont think its about whats appropriate concerning what time its being played or heard .

I get into alot of arguements that goes like * WTF r u listenin to ?* kinda arguements , i dont explain myself because i know how good it sounds like , but do they ?

so thats why ive set this topic , because how would u know if it sounds bad or not , if u didnt let go ??

Man, I wake up to 145 bpm psytrance at 7 am... lol... it doesn't mean anything.

Time has no relevance. Your mood and taste does though.

Take this example; I think Lady Gaga is a pathetic excuse for a music "artist".. hell, pathetic excuse for a human. But multi-million selling records while she's only a midget who's been around the music industry for a couple of years can't be wronged. So, while I think she's shit (because this is my taste) the other bazillion fans of hers disagree (because what she does appeals to their taste). Nobody is wrong here; it's a matter of different taste.

Music is a form of art. But not everybody enjoys the same type of art. We need diversity and variations in content, tastes, and opinions. The other flip of the coin is that those variations (and you're dislike of them) makes you appreciate what you like even more - whenever I listen to a melodic or tech trance tune, I appreciate my deep dark progressive and full-on 140+ psy even more.


All this talking got me craving Astral Projection .. haha

Psy is a very littered genre and I've been scavenging it for over 9 years; takes long to find the good artists but once you do, it's always worth it. I'm set in my ways, but thanks for the recommendations nonetheless.

By the way, don't you ever, EVER, say "no need for Astral Projection"...

and btw ... I actually think that Lady Gaga has some good tracks , i must admit Bad Romance , is very catchy , and there are a couple of good remixes out there , that i dont mind listening to .....


Anyways , back to topic , we all have our different moods , tastes , and prefrences to what to listen to and where ! So , there is no right or wrong in this field

there's no bad music! as much as i hate minimal and find it a pathetic excuse of music, i then remind myself that music is relative and what's for me utter shit might mean the world to others!
