The Middle Eastern Sunlounger ... ?

Postby Qulture » Thu Jul 02, 2009 10:54 am

I was at a club / lounge here in Amman a couple of weeks back , and a friend of mine was Djing , its not a pure edm club , but alot of it is played , but with alot of commercialiasm to please the idiotic public .

Anyways , this track was played within his set , and was the only Arabic track played , and i must say , i was impressed with the quality of this track !! Reminded me alot of Sunlounger , and it fit perfectly in his set , with tracks that incoporate guitars before and after this track .I didnt mind it at all , and the people seemed to be happy with it !!

Roger Shah remix would be massive !!

Do i need to leave Amman soon ??

Raneem would so hump your leg if he saw that topic :P

Though I have to admit, the track has a very nice trancey feeling. One of those songs that I don't mind listening to when it pops out on the radio or one of those liberal TV stations that showcase voluptuous women and singers.

loved this track from the first listen, last year!
amazing melody, and nice clubby touch to the track.
A new arabic singer actually asked me to produce something close for him.

Exactly !!

Forget for a second that its an Arabic song , and forget for another second that you are all cool , pure , mad , intense edm listeners who dont listen to anything else . Its a well produced track wether you like it or not !!

:)

anyways , alot can be done with this track to make it fit into pure electronic sets , reduce the vocals , stress more on the melody , etc ....

akeed sunlounger tracks are much , much better , again dont try and lecture me about Roger Shah !! but this is something that can be easily remixed into a pure hit !!

Man this is OLD! I love this song so much!!
I will admit one thing though: Amr Diab's new album is kicking ass! And there's very good EDM influence in it! There's this producer called Hussein Shafei (Shafe3i). Man he is GOOD compared to other producers in the Middle East. Some serious prog house there that could use a bit of editing!

The breakdown could have been massive if the synth used had more reverb on it! Then a thick bassline n shit!!

I blame Polska for the hatred shown in this topic.

LOL .... actually Gen . My friend . I think this is very interesting . We are all reacting negatively to Arabic songs being turned into electronic arabic songs , because we always associate Arabic songs with the GAAAAYYYYY attitude !

Khaled : this is such a good track !! it really sounds like inpetto or adam k and soha !!! very well produced i must agree with you on that one !

Its very interesting seeing Arabic artists incorporate electronic elements into their sound , lets see where all this winds up ... i am sure we are heading into a new era of arabic music , where it will be influenced by the edm of today !

actually a dub version would be nice of this song.. i guess some oriental producers are trying to venture the realm of EDM even if it's still on the outer rim. IMO the main problem is with the vocals/singer. The singers dont yet know how to "vocalize" over EDM and they tend to overlap the music when they need not to (like the breakdown in this song) and not to mention the silly lyrics (most of the times)

back in '99 one of the promising projects was Beirut Biloma (much to its credit to the composer Hani Siblini) with such tracks as Mazaj that was much much better in terms of structure and composition.
I remember Hani's work also on Ricky Martin's song “One Night Man” which was a worldwide hit. Unfortunately i think such style was almost dropped because it didnt find too much support and return in our scene..

Mazaj:

Never argue with idiots. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience
