PvD's most underrated tune

Postby Genesis » Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:42 pm

What tune do you think that is and why do you think so?
If it didn't get enough exposure then what made that happen?

My vote will go for BT & Paul van Dyk - Namistai

It's a fantastic tune! I absolutely love it and I think it should've got much more exposure than it did (if any).

What's yours?

I'm not too sure if I'll be able to give you a good answer here Gen. I never really loved his productions.

See I'm not a great fan either, but when you listen to the first politics of dancing and his old productions in and around that time (late 90's to early 00's) you'd think otherwise.

No denying he's a pioneer despite his latest (mostly unfavorable) change of style. Same rule applies for Paul Oakenfold; love him or hate him, EDM would never be the same if he wasn't there.

Oakieee , yea used to love him back in the day. His essential mix on pete tong's show back in 1994 was voted as the best essential mix of all time, he played goa back then and no one knew what the hell he was on about, but he made goa big. A big contributor to trance and especially goa. As for PVD err donno ill have to get back to my old PVD collection, i never was a big fan of the dude, a couple of good tunes here and there.

well, I hate all PvD's works, except "Crush" and "Nothing But You", so I don't really have an answer for this question, since these 2 tracks hit well the charts.

However, the most OVERRATED tune is "For An Angel" in my opinion! It's like my 9 yr old brother composing a melody for the first time ever!

^ Man come on it's not overrated. I'm not saying this cuz it's my all time favorite Trance track. But because it's part of the good old days when Trance didn't sound so complex and was really really beautiful. It's one of those Trance tracks that made people LOVE this music. It's almost if you suggest that since For An Angel is overrated, then all legendary classics of Ferry, Armin, Tiesto, Oakenfold, Solarstone, etc... are also overrated.
Can't answer your question Gen though. Never really thought about this :?

^ I love another way!!! It was so good!! Together we will Conquer is also very well done. Those two tunes didn't get much exposre I must say. especially the latter. Vega and Columbia were also good.

Actually, that whole album was really fantastic. I truly enjoyed it back in the day - haven't listened to it in YEARS though. I don't even remember where I put it last.. lol

On another note, his album Seven Ways didn't get much exposure. Come to think about it, Out There and Back marks his shooting to stardom and few people mentioned what he did before that. There're good stuff in Seven Ways (I think it came out in 1996 or 1997) like Forbidden Fruit, Words, and Heaven (among others)... He very experimental at that time, I loved that about his sound.

Welcome to DJ.Malaria you may wonder why I called this group Dj Malaria.
Just like Malaria takes over a person's body when it hits them i want my music's originality to control the soul of whoever hears it in that sense my music is more powerful than Malaria, and I'm sure it will but in a positive way of
course.
