I recently got A State of Trance Classics, Volume 2, featuring old favorites, such Rank 1's Airwave, AvB's remixes of Yahel's Devotion and Aria's Dido, Walhalla by Gouryella, G&D's remix of Mindcircus...
Comparing these tracks to the things I hear these days, i know that both of these styles "should" be labeled "Trance", but I there is a HUGE difference in the sound
Im not really into technical desriptions, so here's my question:
In purely TECHNICAL terms, what is the difference between 90's trance & today's productions?

^ Money talks. The reason most of the producers are jumping to 'most wanted now' sounds is because they can easily get more money than they would if they kept producing their older style. *Dont let me bring back the 'support your artists' theme back*
As for the topic,
The sounds they use are:
- More distant back in the day ... more upfront now.
- Less 'buzz' back in the day ... more hammer now.
- More dreamier back in the day ... the more clubbier now.

Well, it just makes sub-genres (prog / uplifting / house / tech / tech house) non existent. Nowadays, everyone's mixing them together within the same track.
