Deadmau5 are insane - the name has burst on to the scene recently with some killer electro tracks - hard pumping club music...

Deadmau5 - Faxing Berlin (Original Mix) !

^ That tune STILL has to get through me ... i dunno why, but its too mellow and the sudden change from the Deadmau5 tracklist is just not hitting me. Maybe it'll sound better as I keep it on repeat.

^ It will...

Never liked it to begin with, however as I listented to it a couple of times it eventually grew on me - a masterpiece of a track!

^LOL, looks like you haven't been checking my recent tracklists: I've been infiltrating a whole lot of influences from different House subgenres (Minimal, Elecro, Tech, Tribal, Prog...), just not pure House of course, I'm still a Trance loyalist to the bone. This sample would be a track I'd possibly dance to in a club, just wouldn't listen to at home/car or ever include in a set of mine. This is DANCE MUSIC with no musical value except getting people to dance, while Trance is MUSIC, PERIOD, that can get you to dance just as much if not more while offering a rich musical contribution not found in most other EDM genres.

excellent point dio!! yeah i agree that house music IS for clubbing/dancing.. but i think what makes it special is that is not as much layered as trance which gives the dj easy access to giving his edit when spinning.. i love to listen to trance, dont get me wrong i dont hate the genre (90% of my ipod "now zune" is filled with trance) but i think the problem with trance is that the buildups are soo long it kinda kills the dancing mood in the club for that moment (yeah there's a breakdown) ... good point nonetheless..

im not trying to say one genre is better than the other, im just saying that each has its advantages and disadvantages.. ok i dont even know what im saying anymore, i lost my point and the whole meaning of this topic long time ago!

^I agree on the "layers" argument, especially with the recent digital revolution, it surely is easier for DJs to manipulate House tracks with Ableton than Trance tracks, which makes House music have more "creative potential" than Trance, and thus convert some Trance DJs into House so they have the possibility to showcase their technical talents.

And I know what you're talking about regarding the iPod inference: I too listen to a lot of Trance which doesn't make its way to my DJ case. Some tracks are just listening material and don't really work on a crowd, so I don't bother taking them along with me to a gig, even though they might be on repeat in my car! While other Trance tracks might not be so great to listen too (but good to listen too nonetheless, I never play tracks I dislike) but would be essential elements in a live set of mine given their dancefloor destruction power.

DJing changes you, it broadens your taste and makes you more open minded to new sounds, to testing these sounds out on a crowd to see if they work or not, and to abandon (as a DJ, not as a listener) some tracks you love because, well, they simply don't work in a club, and belong in the car/computer/whatever. I don't know if you played out live yet hasneez, but the more a DJ start getting gigs the more he/she reshapes his/her sound, because you'd grasp a deeper understanding of crowd psychology with experience, and I strongly believe that THIS specific trait of a DJ's learning process is just as important as TASTE.

Damn, looks like we all lost our points and the whole meaning behind this topic... :P
