Oakenfold Vs. Tiesto

ok..
im not really opening a topic to discuss who has a better history, or who contributed more to the trance scene.
Im opening this topic to discuss only 4 releases, produced by 2 gr8 djs/producers.

Traffic (Tiesto) Vs. Amsterdam (Oaky):

Ok..both tracks are excellent in terms of production, and in terms of what they can do on the dancefloor. Mind you, Amsterdam was produced after Traffic.. Now the thing is that they both got the same idea, and close arrangement. The main idea of both tracks is automating the "release" of the main melody synth in the breakdown..

I think here Oaky really imitated Tiesto..when i first heard Amsterdam, i really njoyed the track, but wondered why Oaky created nothing new?

He's A Pirate (Tiesto) Vs. Jack's Suite (Oaky) :

Last year, Tiesto produced He's A Pirate as a soundtrack for the movie : Pirates of The Caribean.. the track imo was ok, combining the orchestral symphony with the trance elements and beats.

This year, It's oaky's turn to produce a soundtrack of the movie, with the same ideas, again. I love this track btw, but it reminded me also of what Tiesto did with his production. The track has close arrangement, almost same ideas, but a different symphony, of course.

I opened this topic in order to know what do you think?

Didn't Tiesto remix He's a Pirate?... i found it cool to listen the first few times. As for Traffic, i don't like it. Same for Amsterdam.

Well i think the 4 productions r gr8 especially He's a Pirate
maybe we cannot say it's an imitation that Oakenfold is doing...i don't think he would do that. I mean he knows that if he produces those tracks people will think it's an imitation so imo we can say it's just similar tastes

Yes i agree to Crow i think tiesto did much better job also I think musically Tiesto has better style, but many years ago paul oakenfold was the master of trance music.

Tiesto's style has evolved a lot if you ask me. Paul, without a doubt, will remain one of the people who took DJ-ing to another level. His achievements towards the scene are unforgettable!

That being said, I wonder if Oakie is still going to get into the EDM scene. From the way I see it, his efforts should be focused more into scoring movies.

yes crow paul oakenfold hit a super 6 with swordfish then he never looked back. Every year they keep calling him back to creamfields simply because he made cream the number 1 club in the world. I think after 2000 tiesto who at the time was up and coming and very hot dj he take oakenfolds position. Paul van Dyk was always the opponent as he now is against tiesto, oakenfold and pvd were rivals.

Paul van Dyk rivals everybody... Which is why it's so obvious in his album
covers, he doesn't blend very much... He's quite antisocial...
