now KORG are entering the DJ/live MIDI control market with 2 mixers that look physically HUGE!
usually when a company release two mixers I go straight to the bigger/ more likely expensive one... the zero 8
okay- first impression seems to be a MASSIVE mixer that has 8 inputs- firewire, decks, CD players/line, and two mic inputs... build in KAOS pad, shit loads of MIDI control as well!
now main advantage over the 3D from the start? each of the 8 channels is independently controlled... you can hook up loads of fire-wire systems... enabelling you to have like 4 totally seperate comptuers running 4 totally different kinds of software...
I don't know if that's a good thing! Most DJs like to drink while doing a live set and I donno if you can concentrate well enough even if you'd be SOBER!
can't tell the dimensions but it seems rather large, and probably wont fit in a proper flightcase/installation at a club.
I do like th eVU meters on the master out- nothing beats the classic needles (rememeber Carl Cox's mixer?)
everything is MIDI controllable on the knobs located to each channel- by golly that's a LOT of control!!
for MIDI you need to pre=set your mixer to control what YOU want in your software... I sure hope that if a "system-reset" happens you'd have enough time befor eyour gig to re-program the controls!
on the far right you have even more MIDI functions to contorl parameters you choose.. it's a totally customizable controller!
the faders look flimsy.. who remembers when Roland released a mixer to rival Pioneer back in 1999?? well same kinds story here.. just ugly faders at the bottom of the mixer...
EQ looks sophisticated with "presets" like guitar, keyboard..etc... maybe it'll go BEYOND jsut DJing then... !
