Take a look at the Rock or Rap music environment, many producers/musicians were actually murdered by fans or anti-fans.
The EM world is relatively calm…
The problem is that some people are just to stubborn to realize that music is about taste.. and stubbornness ain’t the result of drugs or music abuse, it is simply an outcome of stupidity… Just watch the news at eight*

As JAD already said, Lebanese people got used to aggressively. They feel insecure and lack patience also, in my opinion, due to the miserable political situation in the region that we're all suffering from. Moreover, people tend to impose or if I may say "prove" themselves by having that sense of belongingness. Therefore, they'll be defending the passion they belong to by being intolerant and sometimes uncivilized. They want to show how perfect they are in all means possible without letting others expressing themselves as well.

This is, I think, too theoretical. People who think or actually act like what Samer stated in his question, are immature and way far from reality. I’m not judging people here, I’m stating my point of view and I have lot of arguments to support my idea. In other words, people who can't hear any sound that is less perfect to their personal standards aren't being wise enough to know that music, just like life has its ups and downs! A producer can be satisfied with his production and find it quite beautiful but it could simply not be to the audience. It’s a matter of taste here that we all should be aware of. In addition to that, and as I previously said, it's a way to "prove" their point which is somehow a "show-off" style! People in general and Lebanese people in specific like to criticize. They can't but criticize! They just wait that "less-perfect" sound to their personal standards to criticize.

Imitation is the right word in my opinion. Tiesto got his popularity in Lebanon because people imitated each other! To look more interesting, they just went with the flow (fashion!).
I may say most of Trance listeners do induce drugs and this definitely prone them to be more negative and aggressive! Again, it's all about imitation here, they follow a certain trend that later on becomes a fact for them, just like rumors!

Exactly! Samer just used the right words: intolerance and acceptance.
Why not accepting others? Simply, because they don't have the courage to. How is it related? Since people usually don't accept others whether it's about different nationality, race, religion and even music it's because of the simple fact that they don't have the courage to see and to admit their own weaknesses!! Which is why they see themselves as "right" and others as "wrong", themselves as "superior" and others as "inferior", themselves as "smart" and others as "dull". That's how it is, it's a cultural thing in my opinion.[/align]

JAD: at least I won't bash you politics have a big influence in lebanon. Even ppl like me who don't watch the news at 8 (<-- rob ) are influenced (this is why i've been so stressed since the sad event of end of November). I also agree that it's a way of life. It's definitely a passion too for the true music lovers.

I wouldn't call it aggression or negativity really. If you think that discussing and arguing about a track/producer/DJ is similar to aggression then you're wrong. Everyone's just defending their own artist/track. Might sound aggressive on the internet, but trust me, if we do argue in person, none of us will sound as bad as we are on the internet. I don't think I'll find 2 people on the street engaged into a brawl of punches and kicks just because this guy called Tiesto a fagget and a shitty producer/DJ...Right?

Frankly I haven't seen aggression in this forum really. Unless it's a misunderstanding, everyone's just A OK!

A good example is when I argued about the iPhone in the iPhone topic and started bashing Mac and its crew. System.S and JAD got me all wrong about my attitude and I was told by one of them to calm down when I was already calm! I still crack up everytime I read those posts back at mine especially when JAD went like: Listen "bro". Haha!

So yeah, it's all a matter of misunderstanding people! I've seen some aggression on other forums but that's just because those people are nitwits. SamEr buddy, if you're talking about t.nu, then you should just exclude them from your list here. Tranceaddict is included too. There's a good number of nut heads on those forums. Dude, you should check out the off-topics on trance.nu every now and then! This should be a very good indication of how screwed up SOME people are on those forums. However, even if they do argue about a track or a DJ/producer, out of 5 posts, there's always 1 post that goes something like this: "guys, it's all about different opinions!" Then everyone's often back to normal.
I've seen that going around for a while and honestly, I'm starting to do the same. There's no point in arguing so aggressively about how bad that DJ is or why didn't this producer is trying out new sounds instead of giving his/her fans what they want.

Having said all this, I couldn't help but type the only reason that could come to my head for the whole aggression that might be going on in the EDM forums:
The internet is basically a good catalyst for aggression over the forums since people are sitting behind those screens thinking "what's the worst that's going to happen? he/she's not going to come all the way here and beat me up!" And also, like I said before, there's always a misunderstanding going on since the internet might portray the wrong idea about someone's response and/or attitude.
