Trance and drugs:


Trance developed alongside the increasing use of the drug ecstasy in the club scene. Ecstasy invokes a feeling of intense optimism and goodwill, and when taken while listening to loud trance music the feeling can become euphoric and highly energetic. The structure of trance music came to develop, deliberately or not, so that it became ever more effective at provoking these euphoric feelings. The metronomic beat, simple distorted waveforms drenched in large amounts of reverb, and long build-ups with snare rolls leading out of a breakdown all trigger a huge predictable response from ecstacy users.[citation needed] At the end of the 1990s, it is likely that a large number of clubbers in clubs such as Gatecrasher in Sheffield and Passion in Coalville (both in the UK) were using ecstasy.

damn damn DAMN DAMN the drugs !!!!! concerning goa trance i understand but wtf ?!?!?!?! For me that's all just f*ckin fake emotions, there's NOTHING PURE in it. It's like ppl taking ecstasy aren't satisfied with the effects that music alone provides and need to take these f*ckin pills to reach their climax... that's NOT passion for music in my opinion! Even when listening to psy-trance i dont need drugs to reach those euphoric feelings.......
if i could i'd ban that bullshit at gigs, and smoking while i'm at it (now for the cigarettes i'll hold my thoughts for my own sake)

i agree that many trancers pop pills but that is coz those pills match the atmosphere of a concert
anyway hope all those hypes quit the shit they do...
