It's been a while since I illegally downloaded a track, for those 3 reasons:
1- I stopped enjoying full-length tracks. I like them more when they're mixed. The only things I'm downloading are radio shows. If a track is THAT good and worth it, I'll go to beatport or audiojelly to get them.
2- I buy all the albums/compilations I want. Nothing like the feeling of holding a fresh CD in your hands. I recently bought ASOT 2004 & 2005 just because I have the others and I wanted to complete my collection.
3-SUPPORT THE ARTIST! I wouldn't like it if, say I'm an author, to put all my time and efforts into writing a book and then have somone not only read it, but get a version of the book for himself and read it along or for other's enjoyement without me getting anthing out of it.
Most people do not care about the efforts a producer has put in. Like Proof said, that "If I can have it for free, why buy it?" prevails, even if sharing sites beg users to support the artist, no-one buys what they say. I think it's too bad really, but I wouldn't go around and spread the word, begging people to buy tracks. I do my part, and hope that others see what they're doing wrong.
And many people do not trust the internet to buy stuff off of it. I was like that, I didn't trust it, I didn't want to get ripped off...
P.S.: Proof and Kay, I didn't get how that MXP4 could help solve that problem. I know it helps DJs A LOT, but how does it help artists and distributors and limiting or stopping illegal downloading?
