Crow, don't diss breakdancing!!! I absolutely love it and it's a joy to watch!
Check this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=secH0ngd9CULads, I have to disagree here.
Whereas I agree the music is possibly and utterly horrid to even listen to,
I have to disagree with the dancing part of the argument.
See, I embrace dancing. All forms of it. From ballet, to ballroom, to freestyle,
and of course electronic.
Where every form of dance has an indicative and distinctive pattern and
technique that identifies it, electronic dancing doesn't. That's part of what
makes it special and personal. Sure, there's what associates with it: stupid
drugs, weird glow sticks, and unnecessarily strange clothing but that's not it.
I'm a horrible dancer. If I was to see myself dancing, I'll laugh at myself and
possibly never dance again. I don't know how to dance at all. Many people
don't want to listen, just stand there, nod along, and enjoy the music.
Back to the videos linked up: those people got skill! I don't see the hilarity in
what they were doing. If anything: I'm impressed. They're really good and
talented. Although the routines were mainly over the arms and the top part
of their bodies, they are really good.
Not my type as I'm a feet person () but still: they are really really good!
Their music might be terrible, but they are good dancers!
As for Icepick's main topic: I hate it when music starts to form a lifestyle. In
normal situations, it's the desire to belong to a certain group of individuals that
have the same taste in music which is not necessarily bad. But in cases of
young not-so-much-knowledge juveniles, then no. That's just seeking
attention without possibly caring much about the music itself (obviously, there
are exceptions).
Lads don't look so much into it; tecktonic or volcanic, you still have to admit
that the dancing could be really good. Trust me, I've seen people on drugs
standing there with eyes closed, chewing on their lips, and not really doing
much barely reacting to the music.
Bottom line; music might suck, but dancing is always good. After all, it's what
music is about - it completes it.
