True, True!!

however, i think EDM is pushing it way too far Genres wise... the slightest marginal, insignificant alteration may result in a whole new subgenre. You don't see that happening in other styles of music. For example, if a Jazz producer , produces a track and adds something Trivial (such as an Indian beat), u wouldn't see the birth of an Indian Jazz subgenre. Yet, i have seen EDM subgenres get born for even less significant shiznet!

^I agree, as is seen with the example I always give: Electro Trance & Neo Trance. Just because Electro and Minimal influences are making their way to Trance doesn't qualify this new wave of production for a brand new subgenre!

^ with all due respect i have something to say regarding the sub labeling..
dark and deep trance clearly describe the feeling of a track more than being a distinctive sub genre so IMHO they'll never get to be sub genres in terms of music, just an adjective for the productions.. more likely to how happy house and dark house are.
As for Electro Trance and Neo Trance.. well these are simply a joke!! they're not based on any musical reference nor a specific distinctive trait, just a bunch of enthusiasts on a forum trying to sound cool and create something new!!

You know, what bothers more than the "bunch of enthusiasts on a forum trying to sound cool and create something new" as you termed them, is the influential DJs using such terms to describe their sound! Those are the people that cause the bigger damage and distortion to the image of Trance.

^ I support these fresh sounds because I like them but you know how hard I oppose mislabeling them into their own subgenres! Stop making knefeh and start reading again boy :lol:

Raneem stop messing with the topic wleh! and i know u were kidding but just to make it clear that i didnt mean DIO with my comment.. it's more about members in other forums who did so..

and i still cant believe a DJ will talk about Neo Trance.. it's utterly ridiculous!! so is it suppose to mean NEW?! and after a while they'll change the name to what?? OLD Trance?!

As Dio said, i wish it was a bunch of "enthusiasts on forums" that are behind this problem. As Dio said, its usually started by a DJ/Producer who incorporates something "not very common" into his productions/sets (such as ElectroTrance as one great example by Dio), then labels his music style or sound as such. And then a flock of other DJs/Producers follow his footsteps ... then "WALA" (mind my french spelling) before u know it.. a whole new subgenre in EDM is born.

Might be because DJs/Producers of EDM music feel that they desperately need to find something to make them different from the other 10000000 DJs/Producers in EDM. Probably the DJs/Producers on these forums might be able to explain to you how hard it is, to make it as an EDM artist, better than i do... And the importance of being "Unique" in order to have a survival chance.

HOWEVER, thats a whole different subject by itself, that is open for alot of discussion/debate
