One of the greatest things about the EDM industry is that it is rapidly changing and rising above ground no matter how much people still think it is underground. Part of the rapid rise is the appearance of many new DJs and the advancing of old ones along with radio shows.
However, it seems that people are judging DJs by their radio shows, live performances, or even both.
Judging may be good or bad.
I personally think that DJs should be judged by their live performances as they represent their true skills in the field rather than sitting at home and prerecording a mix. Track selection will always differ. Sure there can be a few common tracks here and there, but your skills are not the same. Take Markus Schulz for example. (Best example actually). His Global DJ Broadcast bores me to death! But his mixes live are unbelievably different and energetic!!!
DJs are made to play out loud and not in bedrooms. Regardless of the new comers that start off as bedroom DJs. Radio Shows are simply promotional tools at the hands of any DJ out there.
