I was kinda waiting for this topic to emerge after our discussion...
I'm pretty saddened at your decision although I fully understand its legitimate drivers as I empathize with your status of the struggling bedroom DJ who's got the talent but not the opportunity while others around you have it the other away around, which is just unfair. I was there at a point in time and for a long time and a small confession: I had actually drafted a similar topic on TH, and before posting it I got an unexpected call out of nowhere on that same week for a gig in some smalltime club in Monot on a weekday (SamEr, e-sam, AMADEUS, and JAD may remember that night), which is why that topic draft never came to life. I'm not saying this to give you false hope, this doesn't happen with everyone as the luck factor plays a major role, but somewhat like bxtreme alluded, don't be too surprised if you make a comeback.
And as we previously discussed, minimizing dedication to DJing doesn't un-make you a DJ - you'll always be a DJ, as l_r said you'll still mix at home from time to time just for the fuck of it.
One point I disagree with is about the other "DJs": though I agree with the sad state our local scene reached last year, my reaction on the matter is differently - I believe real DJs should stay put and keep radiating the true image of EDM DJing culture. We literally built this culture in the fabric of the Lebanese scene, so we have prime responsibility for defending it! Nevertheless I feel with your frustration and I know that this isn't the main reason why you're temporarily retiring.
It's always saddening to see one of the very few quality DJs in Lebanon take a step back. You know I believed in you since day zero and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to listen to you on a few occasions.
You'll be back, even if behind the same decks as mine mixing out of my bag
But because all this drama is not the proper way for a Progressive House DJ such as A-Cube to make an exit, another Progressive House DJ Dionysos wishes to cordially invite you to a one-hour guest mix on his radio show. In this hour you are expected to tastefully compile and impeccably mix your creme-de-la-creme tracks of all time, with no obligatory conditions pertaining to genres, BPMs, release dates, or any such limiting factors. Feel free to submit the set any time and it will be aired on the following week. You may use a recorded jingle that says "guest mix by A-Cube".Hear you soon
