EDM started dying when Creamfileds happened, and DJs starting acting like pussies trying to connect with the masses. The whole experiment failed in my opinion, EDM isnt about connecting with the masses, its about underground movements and youth taking music in a revolutionary sense. The 90s messed up bad, and the 00s killed it off. I dont think 09 will be any better.
As for Techno, I disagree Gen, its not similar to electro, infact if anything, Techno came as a response to how commercial house got. House heads all turned to techno, even prog heads, because they saw it as the last remaining genre that wasnt commercialised, but they got it wrong, because all of a sudden producers starting turning it into commercial ville to make the masses happy, next thing you know all producers are using tech elements to take their track to the next level. From the shapeshifters to joe k, tech was turned commercial!
I dont know what house heads will turn to in 09, some say a dubstep movement with lower bpm and dark elements is growing in London, i dont know if it could even be called a movement. The closest we had to movements was the d&b in London a few years back. Others are saying, house will make the comeback, I hope so.
As for your trance points I cant make much comments their Cube, but I can notice from the trance ive been hearing lately that it too has been using minimal elements in a way or another, so there's the techno craze for you.
In conclusion, bring 1987 BACK!
