Madeira ~ Solaris

Seeing the names of both Mike Shiver and Smith & Pledger on one vinyl signifies that this is one release to get! But hold your horses, I have a few remarks to give...

Very promising from the start, with a not-so-soft not-so-hard beat building up, and a couple of guitar notes flowering after a couple of minutes. Breakdown time finally arrives, and along with it comes the melody, very melodic just like previous Shiver productions, added to which is that sweet guitar, and a beat that is just perfect to go along with. Sweet trancer that will surely please melodic diehards.

A more interesting beat on this one, and a first minor breakdown that is announced with a higher emphasis on that guitar, and quick drop-back of the beat. Shortly afterwards a dreamy pad is added that carries us through onto a second minor breakdown: nothing too interesting here, just a repetition of what we heard before. I'm not too impressed with this remix, all that Smith & Pledger did was shed the light on the guitar; other than, that the remix is average.



The original did it for me, the remix was just too average. In the end of the day, I believe that both Mike Shiver and Smith & Pledger have delivered much better productions in the past, and this one, although it's not bad, just didn't add much to their repertoire.

i 2nd that DIO.. a nice trancer but nothing original in here.. but i won't be mad or sad to listen to this beauty.. especially the original mix which is indeed kinda better than the Smith & Pledger Remix
