Anjunabeats has been for a while now a top label that consistently releases top material. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find another label that outputs so much good stuff week in week out, and has such a line-up of producers that always produce the goods.
The second edition of Anjunabeats Worldwide was released this Monday, featuring on the decks another two of its heavyweight producers: Super8 & Tab and Mat Zo.
Super8 & Tab start us off with Disc 1. The disc launches on cool, funky grooves by Roddy Reynaert and continues with slow, havoc-wreaking beats that are dance-floor custom-made. The rhythm picks up with Lange's new single, Under Pressure, followed by Ronski Speed's new one as well, Denva. The Finnish duo then showcase their own new production, Black is the New Yellow, that follows well and truly in the footsteps of those producer's style: a simple melody, groove baseline and a heart-wrecking breakdown. This is where all hell breaks loose with full-on up-tempo, uplifting productions, soaring lead synths, unbelievable energy and power. Whether it is Thomas Datt's new Phoenix Burn, Sunny Lax's Vanesse, the already well and truly established Anjunabeats cult track Ten Minutes to Midnight by Jer Martin or Dan Stone's Crafted, nothing but quality uplifting trance, the kind only Anjunabeats can output in such amounts.
On Disc 2, uber-talented and young Mat Zo takes over the reins. Never one to limit himself to one single genre or style (he also produce DnB under his MRSA alias), this disc truly reflects what his production style is: unlimited fluctuations between various stereotypes and genres, creatively blending and mixing different tracks to produce a quality compilation. Interestingly starting out with Maor Levi 2007 track, Illumina, Zo reminds us of his inherently diverse style by moving to a completely different track, the groovy Aircraft by Dinka, which will instantly make your head bob. After Arnej delivers his usual delight of strings, Zo showcases his own new production, Near The End, and shows him how on top of his form he is: For me, Near The End is almost surely one of the tracks of the year so far and the unique mix of dark music/light music instantly show that it is truly Mat Zo that is behind that production. The CD goes on to fluctuate incessantly between styles, be it from the immense tech-giant Bart Claessen, new duo Andy Bayer and Boom Jinx's innovative deep music, or Cold Blue's vintage uplifting trance. The CD ends on Mat Zo's crafty remix of Reeve's Call of Loneliness, and leaves wanting to rewind and play that CD again.
So what will you get for your money should you buy that release? Two CDs that showcase the production styles of two of Anjunabeats' most prolific weapons, through top quality tracks: The uplifting, melodic and refreshing style of Super8 & Tab, or Mat Zo's limitless creativity and widely diversified taste that he can showcase and deliver better than most.
Truly a very good compilation that you won't regret getting.
