's work first grabbed my attention when he remixed Sonika - Hypertension. I kept throwing this TECH TRANCE tune in every set I record; I Found this guy a genius!

And now he releases his new tracks Ensure & Exposé under Black Hole Recordings, with a different touch this time: MINIMAL Trance.
We realized last year how much Trance tunes were released & influenced with Electro; Electro Trance. Seems 2007 is the beginning of Minimal Trance. In Summer, we also found some Minimal influenced trance tracks, such as "Blikken Machine (Mark Norman)", "These Days (Marc Van Linden & Funabashi)" etc...
Now, November 1st 2007, new Minimal Trance tunes get released by Re-Ward.

Ensure has the typical minimal structure, with the typical minimal elements, but what it differs it from Techno is the breakdown; very trippy & dreamy. It has a really catchy bassline, and it's very pumpy, and of course, gr8 on the dancefloor. The Pads and instruments in the breakdown are distorted ti give the Filth feeling, but still keeping its "Voyage into Trance" lovely!

Exposé starts with freaky sounds and effects, then come the beats, accompanied with also typical minimal elements and sounds. TYhis track seems to have an instrument close to an Electric Guitar in the breakdown, with a very simple melody; This track is more into the techno field than Trance i guess.

Both tracks are very good in my opinion, this release is worth the buy!!

Define "minimal trance"

Minimal Trance, Electro Trance, Tech Trance, soon there will be Hardcore Trance, Garage Trance, Drum'n'Trance............. hip-trance or trance-hop!!! This categorization is starting to piss me the hell off

^ Haha and who ever told you that Raneem's so called sub-genre of trance (minimal trance) was an official one?

^ it's not..! nor is Electro Trance! But that's how the trend is going, and i guess these subgenres will exist officially soon!

actually .... it does exsist , and unfortunately , it has a name as well .

Neo-Trance or Nu-Trance. Which can be the mimimal side of trance , or the melodic side of minimal .... its your call ... !!

Experimenting is cool, electro trance for example, but what's the point of making it official? So now if someone experiments a new combination of sounds, it has to be a positive outcome? Just so that he says that he's the pioneer of a new subgenre? That he's part of the history of music? Bullshit. Again, too much of something isn't always good! I live happily with my uplifting, vocal and progressive
