The very talented Producer Markus Schulz gets ready to release his 2nd album: Progression by the beginning of July on Armada Label.
The album is characterized by containing a variety of sounds that include guitars, sublime vocals, chilled melodic tunes along side some darker ones.
The artists himself speaks of the album and says : Progression was conceived in the summer, whereas the debut album was done and released in winter, so Progression is less dark, and more influenced by sunny days in Miami. ‘Trinidad to Miami’ was actually written while I was flying over the ocean with the sun shining on the water, and encapsulates that feeling of optimism and happiness.”
I've heard the promo of this release and I'll comment shortly on each track.
- I Am, too famous to be re-introduced, is the first track on the album. A personal favorite of Markus who collaborated with Chakra on this production, the track is a definite ear-catcher.
- Spilled Cranberries kicks in slowly at first but starts building up later on into a dreamy, paddy, twinkly proggy tune. Progressive fans will like this one.
- On a Wave features vocals from Anita Kelsey, and is a very low paced track, filled with pads and piano notes.
- Lost Cause features lovely vocals from the very Carrie Skipper. Beautiful beat, sick bassline and guitar riffs make this an absolute masterpiece. Love it!
- Mainstage, mainly a short thrilly, dramatic transition between the tracks..
- Fly to Colors, my favorite in here! Brilliant!
This track's got an edge, a bit of darkness, a driving bassline, intruiging synths, and a captivating melody! Just amazing.
- Let it Go gives us a more "Schulzy" feeling. Things start speeding up in here. An interesting buildup, with lots of synths and twists on the way. Main melody is summery and totally uplifting.
- SLA9 throws in a funky housy touch to the album. But it doesn't stay there, where it slowly adds up reaching the trancy level again. Awesome transitions!
- Daydream, a track produced with Andy Moor, and you can recognize the touch of him clearly. The bassline. The chopped vocals. The sparkley elements. The same old story. But he can Never really go wrong, can he?!
- Perfect, featuring Dauby, starts with a strong assaulting beat, but somehow fails to deliver imo. Dauby's vocals are abit cheesy, but still, some might dig it.
- Trinidad to Miamo is also very summery, with lots of pads and fresh percussions. Might get a bit repetetive though.
- Cause You Know, featuring Departure kicks in back again with totally addictive vocals! I just love the voice! I couldn't stop repeating this the moment i heard it. The total buildup of the track is great, the melody, the whole sad ambience behind it, use of electrical guitar, great breakdown, just everything. This is my other favorite in here!
- Cause You Know (This is The End) is a dreamier and creepier version of the previous one. Male vocals emerge keep repeating "Is this the end of everything, and with a party of beautiful piano beats synths, vocals, it is the end Markus chose for this album.
Get this as soon as it's out. Definitely worth the hear!
