André Tanneberger a.k.a. ATB is finally back with the release of his seventh and possibly most awaited album, Trilogy!
Those who have followed ATB from the start know that his shot to fame came courtesy of his earlier production of various club hits that tore dancefloors apart on the world over.
However, as his albums progressed, so did his transition from somewhat of a club music focus to an emphasis on vocal, uplifting trance.
Trilogy is an epitome of this evolution.
ATB tries to seek something new with every album that he releases - and Trilogy is different than previous albums, but you can sense the dynamic and unique ATB touch in every track! The two-CD stunning release containing 26 tracks that mesmerize and hypnotize - the listener is taken on a journey for 2 hours and 10 minutes, a journey that was well worth the wait. ATB coalesces two realms together: melodious tunes on CD1, and the maximum amount of smoothness and chill on CD2.
CD1 contains the tracks that ooze with the distinct ATB sound. Vocals, uplifting melodies, and beats incorporating sweet usage of guitar, piano and drums bring electronic flavor and soul to the listener.
Justify is a sweet track with an underlying melody that brings a combination of meaningful lyrics and wonderful vocals.
Desperate Religion is a sexy track with an emphasis on drums with an underlying piano melody with a breakdown that is a scattered mix of chaos all worked together until the climax hits - one of my favorite tracks on this album.
Renegade with angelic vocals by Heather Nova (who is featured three times on this CD) plus the wonderful melody and the high notes this vocalist can reach has made this track a large success when it was released as a single!
Beautiful Worlds is breathtaking. Marvelously breathtaking. The piano in this beauty is the pure essence of this track. Extremely uplifting. The breakdown with the mix of electronic elements used in this track makes it worthwhile. There is a very Above and Beyond-y feel to this track. My number 1 track on the entire album.
Stars come out is a smooth, sweet number and the second track featuring vocals by Heather Nova.
Made of Glass is the third track with Heather's heavenly voice. It reminds you of Renegade at one point, but then the track takes a twist and you realize it's completely different.
The Chosen Ones reminded me directly of the rework of Let U Go that was on Seven Years - same vocalist, similar melody. However, that does not mean this track has nothing new to bring! The lyrics are meaningful and it's a wonderful track to listen to with someone dear to your heart...
CD2 shows the softer side of ATB. Extensive instrumentals enhance the chillout/ambient feeling of the tracks included. Mind-drifting and relaxing, this CD definitely upholds smoothness: it's a CD perfect for those upcoming, dreary summer evenings, for watching the sunset, or watching the sunrise...
Fahrenheit 451 is a soothing, pleasant track with soft beats and a beautiful guitar play.
Trilogy (The Final Chapter)is my favorite track on CD2 - it is the third part of Trilogy. The first part appeared on Addicted to music, and the second on Seven Years and this Final Chapter is an end to a trilogy that is truly successful. The play on the melody here gives the track a heavenly, out of this world feel.
A Rainy afternoon is a nice addition to this CD, very chill-out and relaxing.
No Fate is a unity of both the ambient feel ATB wanted to bring to this CD as well as his love for electronic music. Mixed together, this track offers nothing other than aural pleasure.
Tristan Da Cunha is a track that will make you LOVE ATB's emphasis on guitar use. The guitar melody in this track is what makes it so successful.
A Dream about you combines piano and guitar together to give a wonderful ambient feel.
One Million Miles is a nice end to the listening journey ATB set us on - slower and more quiet than the rest of the tunes.
