This 2-CD compilation of Jam & Spoon remixes and club classics is the fitting tribute to Mark Spoon, who tragically passed away far too early at the age of just 39 in January 2006. His music partner Jam El Mar intended it to be not only a tribute to the musical brilliance of the world famous trance/dance titans known as Jam & Spoon, but also a "must have in my collection" for all DJs and J&S fans.
Disc 1 is a seventy minute dip into the varied array of artists for whom Mark Spoon and Jam El Mar produced outstanding remixes. From Age Of Love, to Quincy Jones, Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Marilyn Manson, and Yello, the sheer quality of artists proves how highly regarded Jam and Mark were. Anyone expecting to find the radio mixes on this CD will however be disappointed. All these remixes never appeared on the previous J&S albums, and haven't been available together on one CD before. CD1 is a monumental musical journey through time, both real and imagined.
CD2 contains those club classics so loved by DJs the world over. Nine superb club tracks together for the first time on one seventy minute CD. If you ever wondered why there'll always be a chapter devoted soley to Jam & Spoon whenever anyone writes a history of trance/dance music, then these tracks will prove why. So many tracks for Jam El Mar to choose from, and his final selection couldn't have been better. "Follow Me", "Can You Feel It", "I Pull My Gun", or the fantastic "Stella", there are more than enough beats, sounds, and musical colours on offer to show what Jam & Spoon are all about.
Why they not only led the way, but set the standards and kept raising them with every release. Little did anyone know that "Tripomatic Fairytales 3003" would be the final Jam & Spoon album. TF3003 set standards and will sound as vital and fresh in twenty years as it does today. We were all looking forward excitedly to the next album, not knowing it would be a compilation and final Jam & Spoon release. Jam El Mar wanted to celebrate the memory and musical genius of his "partner in crime" Mark Spoon with this special, personal selection. Others would have cynically rushed out a compilation of tracks already released, riding the commercial wave of sympathy. Not a hint of anything like that with this compilation! This IS a tribute to Mark Spoon, and it is obvious that Rolf Ellmer (a.k.a. Jam El Mar) has produced something unique and very special indeed. A lot of time, thought, and love has gone into this compilation album and without getting schmalzy or teary-eyed we bet Mark Spoon is looking down from heaven with that wonderful grin of his saying "Thanks Rolf Mate", giving a thumbs up. This definitely isn't just another compilation album. It's one for the J&S fans, for any DJ worthy of the title, and a quality introduction for anyone not familiar with the music of J&S.
Thank you Mark Spoon for all the wonderful music, and for being who you were. We will miss you - we do already! And thank you Jam El Mar for this truly definitive Jam & Spoon album. Jam & Spoon may be no more, but we know Jam El Mar will continue to produce great music - as the Be.Angeled 2006 Tribute track on CD2 proves - which is exactly what his big mate would have wanted too.[/align]
