J00F's sister label Subtraxx announces the return of Finland's Miika
Kuisma in his debut album: Inwardgaze. Subtraxx is managed by Miika
himself who included a number of previously JooF Records-released tunes
such as Sonic Kiss, his collaboration release with J00F: Twisted (that is
remixed by Miika), and Sirius.
It's fair to say at the moment that Miika Kuisma is considered as one of
the most important Scandinavian producers. Just recently he won "The
best artist/producer" and "The best new DJ" 2004 titles at Finnish Club
Awards. So far Miika's career highlights include numerous international DJ
gigs, productions, and collaborations that have reached almost every
dancefloor across the globe and regular support from worlds top DJs
headed by John '00' Fleming and M.I.K.E. Most of the material was quietly
made during last seven months and was then released in a row in this
album rather then promos and previous singles. Many of the tunes are
those that I got for the 1st time and haven't been around or even played
as far I'm concerned by any DJs which was a pleasant surprise.
It's hard to pick favorite tunes from this album: Inwardgaze offers
something for everyone and so, it offered everything for me. But I'll have
to stop at Pandemia that I thought it stood forward ahead of the
other tunes. You can find everything from ambient and groovy house to
psy flavoured tech-trance. The common name for all the tracks is Miika's
unique atmospheric sound that I truely admire.
