It's always refreshing to explore new talent, with Russ James being the scene's newcomer of the day. Arcane was already featured on Gareth Emery's 5 AM compilation: a Summer Dream like beat, an original melody, and a couple of nasty sound effects that make things even more interesting. Quite simple but not at the expense of enjoyableness, especially at the split second when the beat drops back in and the energy meters hit their peaks. Airwalker features one funky bassline that will get you grooved instantly and some House influences such as a very apparent use of the Filter effect. The breakdown introduces yet another original sound, perhaps not an energy meter popper but an interesting one nonetheless. Redneck re-trances things up with a tough edge through a techy buildup and another bassline to drop your jaw on; looks like this guy's strong point is his basslines. I'm not complaining over the melody either, especially with how good it goes with that jumpy beat, one of the same calibre of Arcane's beat. This one has an "L.E.F." feel to it, total "flashover remix" potential! Last up is a remix of Arcane from Mikka who managed to juice up the power output and add a little tweaky acid riff to really get the crowd raving. A successful release by all means, with Russ James making an entrance to the highly competitive scene in the rightest of ways: by offering something new, something original, a unique sound.
