Gareth Emery - The Ego Surfing EP

Postby TRANCExual » Sat Aug 27, 2005 11:24 pm

Massive release by Gareth Emery under 5AM recordings. Believe it or not this is the first solo production by Gareth under his name (already produced under GTR, Cupa, & Digital Blues aliases). After his successful collaborations with Lange and Jon O' Bir, this release is just another one step forward for the dude.

The Ego Surfing EP features four incredible tracks which form a wonderful journey from melodic trance to tech-trance to ambient!

"Between Dreams" and "Backlash" are the first 2 singles that fall under the melodic-trance subgenre. Awesome tracks with this typical melody made up of a flute-like synth which we already know from previous tunes like "Mistral". Nothing much to add, 10/10 for both.

"Tribalism" is a unique release by Gareth. Something new to our ears. A blend of tribal sounds with techy elements in this one. A dance-floor trac, but not my type.

"History of A day" is the ambient track. Fans of Ambient will like this one. Good for relaxing on the beach 8) .

1) Between Dreams
2) Backlash
3) Tribalism
4) History Of A Day

I love this guy's productions! The "ah's" in Between Dreams cannot but make you smile, which I'm sure they made Dreamboy do. Backlash is also beautiful, but Between Dreams is my favorite of the two. Tribalism is not my type either, but History Of A Day is the perfect closure to this EP, and I recommend it to Ambient-loving Genesis.
