Former "Trance Revolution Records" artist Hydroid (Itay Steinberg) returns with two new productions - Burn Proof and Sativa - released on Somatic Sense.
Hydroid ~ Burn Proof [Original Mix]
The first track under review kicks off with a clearly progressive-sounding beat, with the bassline soon making its way through to confirm our prog doubts. A few whistling sounds appear in the distance, adding a trancier vibe to the track's overall feel. After four minutes of buildup delight, the breakdown leaves us with a beautiful sounding dreamy melody on which is soon layered that driving beat, resulting a simple yet catchy structure of pure Progressive Trance. After a short recess, the melody is re-introduced for double the pleasure, and you barely hear any voices complaining. Decent stuff from Hydroid, will please a large number of trancers out there.
Hydroid ~ Sativa [Original Mix]
Sativa starts rather darker than Burn Proof, with a beat that really gives you a hard time if you plan on sitting down throughout the track. But it doesn't go on as dark as it started; a number of measures on and a repeating loop of bouncy keys placed on top of a few dreamy sounds drag the buildup out of the dark and into the shining light of the breakdown. The dreamy sounds perpetuate in the breakdown, with a varying bassline, and some additional even dreamier sounds making their way in to render this journey into Trance a truly delightful one. One of those tracks that can instantly draw a smile on your face no matter how bad you're feeling. Thank you Mr. Itay!
