Matt Darey ~ Nocturnal Delight

Postby DIONYSOS » Wed Apr 21, 2004 11:07 pm

Matt Darey's latest is Nocturnal Delight. Matt is one of the pre-2000 Trance pioneers that paved the way to nowadays popularity. With Li Kwan ~ Point Zero, his first major hit was born and many tracks under the Mash Up and Lost Tribe monikers brought him worldwide fame. After taking a break for a while, Matt's been releasing firmer trancers like Moody and Electro Buzz. This new release comes with a fresh Sandler mix pressed on the A-side.

Sandler Remix
This remix starts off with some mystical deep sounds supported by a beat and a firm bass. After a minute, a rolling bassline enters the track. A fantastic re-work of the sounds of the Original Mix make this track a lot deeper and the nothing-less-than amazing bassline work makes this first two minutes one of the most promising starts of a dancetrack this year. The melody is totally re-worked in a deep Svenson & Gielen anthemic way. The whole sequence is repeated with a shorter breakdown and a second climax.

Original Mix
Matt Darey is pretty much back on form with this trancer. The start sounds pounding and works on slowly to build-up like an emotional souding trancer til a breakdown. The breakdown introduces a 'hands in the air' melody that is quite predictable. What's really cool are the effects that are mixed through the track, one of Matt's strongest points. In overall a pretty good anthem, but not as good as the smashing Moody he served us some time ago.

In conclusion, this vinyl delivers uplifting Trance tracks for peaktime moments on the dancefloor. The Sandler Remix sounds really well, especially the bassline work. Matt's original mix is more of a straight-on trancer that definetly works on the dancefloor but lacks some suprises.
