Find The Way (Instrumental Mix)
I'm going to start this review with the Instrumental Mix, which is actually on the flipside of the vinyl. But it makes more sense like this. The track gets off to a strong start where we see a bit of ambience just pan out into a lovely and rich, full on sound which is driven by some excellent deep and rolling bass. After a minute or so, a whole load of percussion has filtered its way in and there are some synths akin to electric guitars pushing out some seriously powerful chords. The lead which is used as a contrast to this power is a wonderful choice: a soft and muted piano. This instrument shares some of the properties Ron has used in his usually rather distinct lead synths, so it features a lot of sustain and reverb, and the soft character of the piano works really well with the rest of the track, especially during the breakdown, where pianos really can come into their own. The thing is, this type of lead is also fantastic when used to lead main sections, as Ron so easily demonstrates here. When the track drops, the powerful synths push out their chords and the piano just rolls on out, playing it's own wicked pattern of chords and notes. It keeps, or more to the point, makes the pace with ease and is just a dream to listen to.
Find The Way (Vocal Mix)
The Vocal Mix of 'Find The Way' is essentially the same track, but here there is a very prominent vocal part laid on top of the first half of the track. The vocal part is strong, distinct and perhaps a little over powering. Maybe one for earlier in the night, and one which will definitely have most appeal to the die hard vocal trance fans out there.
A really top track by RvdB, the clever combination of superb bass, powerful electric chords and the smooth piano melody works to create a quality piece of energetic trance.
Personal Rating: 8/10
